Dua to seek forgiveness (istighfar)

Ibn Umar said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ asking Allah to forgive him a hundred times in this assembly with the words, 

rabbi ighfir lī wa-tub ʿalayya wa-irḥamnī, innaka anta al-tawwābu al-raḥīm.

"My Lord, forgive me, accept my repentance, and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Accepter of repentance, the Most Merciful."

الأدب المفرد:٦٢٧حَدَّثَنَا جَنْدَلُ بْنُ وَالِقٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ: «رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ.»

The Companions would count the Prophet ﷺ doing istighfār at least a hundred times

In one sitting we would count the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying a hundred times: "rabbi ighfir lī wa-tub ʿalayya, innaka anta al-ttawwābu al-raḥīmu (My Lord, forgive me and pardon me for You are the Most Accepting of Repentance and the Most Merciful.)"
