abudawud:3308ʿAmr b. ʿAwn > Hushaym > Abū Bishr > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās > Āmraʾah Rakibat al-Baḥr Fanadharat In Najjāhā Allāh

A woman made a voyage and vowed that she would fast one month if Allah made her reach her destination with peace and security. Allah made her reach her destination with security but she died before she could fast. Her daughter or sister (the narrator doubted) came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So he commanded to fast on her behalf.  

أبو داود:٣٣٠٨حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً رَكِبَتِ الْبَحْرَ فَنَذَرَتْ إِنْ نَجَّاهَا اللَّهُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرًا فَنَجَّاهَا اللَّهُ فَلَمْ تَصُمْ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ فَجَاءَتِ ابْنَتُهَا أَوْ أُخْتُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ عَنْهَا

[Machine] That a woman rode the sea and vowed that if Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, saved her, she would fast for a month. So Allah saved her and she did not fast until she died. Then her relative came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned this to him, so he said, "Fast for her."  

أحمد:١٨٦١حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً رَكِبَتِ الْبَحْرَ فَنَذَرَتْ إِنِ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنْجَاهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرًا فَأَنْجَاهَا اللهُ ﷻ فَلَمْ تَصُمْ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ فَجَاءَتْ قَرَابَةٌ لَهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ صُومِي

[Machine] She fasted for a month, and then Allah saved her, so she did not fast until she died. Then her daughter or sister came to the Messenger of Allahﷺ and he ordered her to fast on her behalf. The rest of the narrations about it have been mentioned in the book of fasting and the book of Hajj. And with Allah is the success.  

البيهقي:٢٠١٤٨أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أنبأ هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً رَكِبَتِ الْبَحْرَ فَنَذَرَتْ إِنْ نَجَّاهَا اللهُ أَنْ

تَصُومَ شَهْرًا فَنَجَّاهَا اللهُ فَلَمْ تَصُمْ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ فَجَاءَتْ بِنْتُهَا أَوْ أُخْتُهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ عَنْهَا سَائِرُ الرِّوَايَاتِ فِيهِ قَدْ مَضَتْ فِي كِتَابِ الصِّيَامِ وَكِتَابِ الْحَجِّ وَبِاللهِ التَّوْفِيقِ
