Bashir's name in pre-Islamic days was Zahm ibn Ma'bad. When he migrated to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He asked: What is your name? He replied: Zahm. He said: No, you are Bashir. He (Bashir) said: When I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ he passed by the graves of the polytheists. He said: They lived before (a period of) abundant good. He said this three times. He then passed by the graves of Muslims. He said: They received abundant good. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ suddenly saw a man walking in shoes between the graves. He said: O man, wearing the shoes! Woe to thee! Take off thy shoes. So the man looked (round), When he recognized the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he took them off and threw them away.

[Machine] Bashir, the messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrated to me, and his name in the pre-Islamic era was Zahm bin Ma'bad. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What is your name?" He responded, "Zahm bin Ma'bad." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You are Bashir (meaning bearer of glad tidings)." So his name became Bashir. He said, "While I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said to me, 'O son of a noble! Why seek revenge against Allah? You have become someone who walks with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So I said, 'I do not seek revenge against Allah for anything. Every good has been done by the Prophet of Allah.' Then he went to the graves of the polytheists and said, 'These people were preceded by many good deeds.' He repeated this statement three times. Then he went to the graves of the Muslims and said, 'These people have attained much good.' He repeated this statement three times. While he was walking, he cast a glance and saw a man walking among the graves wearing sandals. He said, 'O wearer of the two sandals! Woe to you! Throw away your sandals.' So the man looked, and when he recognized the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he took off his sandals and threw them away.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ migrated and his name during the time of ignorance was Zahr. When he migrated, he was named the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Bashir. While I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said to me, "O son of the Khassasiyya, why do you seek revenge against Allah?" I replied, "I do not seek revenge against Allah for anything. All that has been done to me is good." Then he passed by the graves of the Muslims and said, "These people have attained much goodness." He repeated it three times. Then he passed by the graves of the disbelievers and said, "These people have missed out on much goodness." He repeated it three times. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance and saw a man walking on his sandals over the graves. The Prophet ﷺ called out to him, "O wearer of two sandals, take off your sandals." The man looked and saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he took off his sandals and threw them away. This hadith is from Sahih Muslim.

[Machine] Narrated about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whose name in the pre-Islamic era was Zuhmah bin Ma'bad. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What is your name?" He replied, "Zuhmah bin Ma'bad." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You are Basheer (bearer of good news)." So, his name was changed to Basheer. I (i.e., the narrator) used to walk with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said to me, "O son of the washerwoman, why do you spend time with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while you seek revenge against Allah?" I replied, "I do not seek revenge against Allah for anything. Allah always does good to me." He then came to the graves of the polytheists and said, "Indeed, these people have been surpassed by a lot of good, three times." Then he came to the graves of the Muslims and said, "Indeed, these people have achieved a lot of good, three times." While he was walking, he cast his gaze upon a man walking among the graves, carrying two sandals. He said, "O owner of two sandals, woe be upon you! Throw away your sandals." The man looked up, and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recognized him, he took off his sandals and threw them away. This is a Hadith that has been narrated.
