The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited me while I was sick. He said: Be glad, Umm al-Ala' for Allah removes the sins of a Muslim for his illness as fire removes the dross of gold and silver.
عَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا مَرِيضَةٌ فَقَالَ أَبْشِرِي يَا أُمَّ الْعَلاَءِ فَإِنَّ مَرَضَ الْمُسْلِمِ يُذْهِبُ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا تُذْهِبُ النَّارُ خَبَثَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ visited her during her illness and said, "Rejoice, O Umm Al-Ala, for indeed the illness of a Muslim removes his sins as fire removes impurities from iron."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فِي مَرَضِهَا فَقَالَ «أَبْشِرِي يَا أُمَّ الْعَلَاءِ فَإِنَّ» مَرَضَ الْمُسْلِمِ يُذْهِبُ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا يُذْهِبُ النَّارُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ
"أبْشِرِى يَا أُمَّ الْعَلَاءِ فإنَّ مَرَضَ المسْلِم يُذهِبُ خَطَايَاهُ كَما تُذْهِبُ النَّارُ خَبَثَ الحَدِيدِ".
" يَا أُمَّ الْعَلاء أَبْشِرِى؛ فَإِنَّ مَرَضَ الْمُسْلِم يُذْهِبُ اللهُ بهَ خَطَايَاهُ، كَمَا تُذْهِبُ النَّارُ خَبَثَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفضَّةَ ".
