(the wife of the Prophet) I told Messenger of Allah ﷺ that Safiya bint Huyai had got her menses. He said, "She will probably delay us. Did she perform Tawaf (Al-Ifada) with you?" We replied, "Yes." On that the Prophet ﷺ told her to depart.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ فَقَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجِي

Safiya bint Huyay, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ got her menses, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of that. He said, "Would she delay us?" The people said, "She has already performed Tawaf-al-Ifada." He said, "Therefore she will not (delay us)."

أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَاضَتْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ قَالُوا إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلاَ إِذًا

We feared that Safiyyah might have entered the period of menses before performing Tawaf Ifada. Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and said: Is Safiyyah going to detain us? Thereupon we said: She has performed Tawaf Ifada. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then there is no detention (for us) now.

فَجَاءَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا صَفِيَّةُ قُلْنَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلاَ إِذًا

Messenger of Allah, Safiyyah bint Huyayy has entered the state of menses, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Perhaps she is going to detain us. Has she not clicumambulated the House along with you (i. e. whether she has not performed Tawaf Ifada)? They said: Yes. He said: Then they should set out.

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ قَدْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجْنَ

Messenger of Allah, she has entered the state of menses, whereupon he said: (Well) she is going to detain us. They (his wives) said: Messenger of Allah, she performed Tawaf Ziyara (Tawaf Ifada) on the Day of Nahr. Thereupon he said: Then she should proceed along with you

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرَادَ مِنْ صَفِيَّةَ بَعْضَ مَا يُرِيدُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَقَالُوا إِنَّهَا حَائِضٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَإِنَّهَا لَحَابِسَتُنَا فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ زَارَتْ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَ فَلْتَنْفِرْ مَعَكُمْ

"It was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah that Safiyyah bint Huyai got her menses during the days of Mina, so he said: "Will she prevent us (from departing)?" They said: "She has done (Tawaf) Al-Ifadah/" So the Messenger of Allah said: "In that case there is no harm."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ ذَكَرْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ حَاضَتْ فِي أَيَّامِ مِنًى فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ قَالُوا إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلاَ إِذًا قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

"Safiyyah bint Huyai began menstruating." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Perhaps she has detained us. Did she not circumambulate the House with you?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Then you can leave."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجْنَ

“Safiyyah bint Huyai got her menses after she had done Tawaful-Ifadah.” ‘Aishah said: “I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: ‘Has she detained us?’ I said: ‘She performed Tawaful-Ifadah then she got her menses after that.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Then let her depart.’”

حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَىٍّ بَعْدَمَا أَفَاضَتْ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ ثُمَّ حَاضَتْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلْتَنْفِرْ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Safiyyah and we said: ‘She has got her menses.’ He said: ‘ ‘Aqra Halqa!* I think that she has detained us.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, she performed Tawaful-Ifadah on the Day of Sacrifice.’ He said: ‘No then, tell her to depart.’”

ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ فَقُلْنَا قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ عَقْرَى حَلْقَى مَا أُرَاهَا إِلاَّ حَابِسَتَنَا فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ طَافَتْ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَ فَلاَ إِذًا مُرُوهَا فَلْتَنْفِرْ

“Safiyyah bint Huyai got her menses after she had done Tawaful-Ifadah.” ‘Aishah said: “I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: ‘Has she detained us?’ I said: ‘She performed Tawaful-Ifadah then she got her menses after that.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Then let her depart.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3072)

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بَعْدَمَا أَفَاضَتْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ ؟ قُلْتُ حَاضَتْ بَعْدَمَا أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلْتَنْفِرْ إِذًا أَوْ قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا

[AI] Narrated by Aisha, Safiyya had her menstrual cycle. I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he asked, "Did she hold us back?" I said, "No, she had already finished it." He said, "Then it's fine."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟ قُلْتُ إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَلَا

"Safiyyah bint Huyai began menstruating." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Perhaps she has detained us. Did she not circumambulate the House with you?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Then you can leave." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 391)

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا حَابِسَتُنَا أَوَلَمْتَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجْنَ

[AI] Safiyyah bint Huyay was menstruating while she was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mina, after she had performed Tawaf. She said, "When it was the Day of Departure, this was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said, "Perhaps she will hold us back." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, she had already performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah." He said, "Then let her depart."

حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ وَهِيَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى بَعْدَ أَنْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ النَّفْرِ ذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ عَسَى أَنْ تَحْبِسَنَا قَالَ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ كَانَتْ طَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ قَالَ فَلْتَنْفِرْ

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ mentioned Safiyyah, and they said: 'She is having her menses.' He said: 'Is she holding us back?' They said: 'Indeed, she has already purified herself.' He said: 'Then there is no issue.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَكَرَ صَفِيَّةَ قَالُوا حَاضَتْ قَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟ قَالُوا إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ asked about Safiyyah and said, "Did she detain us?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, she has just menstruated." He said, "Then she is not to be blamed."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَأَلَ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ كَانَتْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to go out. It was said to him: "Indeed Safiyyah bint Huyay has started menstruating." He said, "Indeed, she has detained us." They said, "Indeed, she has performed Tawaf around the House on the day of sacrifice." He said, "Then let her go."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَصْدُرَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا لَحَابِسَتُنَا فَقَالُوا إِنَّهَا قَدْ طَافَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَ فَلْتَنْفِرْ إِذًا

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Safiyyah and we said: ‘She has got her menses.’ He said: ‘ ‘Aqra Halqa!* I think that she has detained us.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, she performed Tawaful-Ifadah on the Day of Sacrifice.’ He said: ‘No then, tell her to depart.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3073)

ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ قَالَتْ فَقُلْنَا قَدْ حَاضَتْ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ عَقْرَى حَلْقَى مَا أُرَاهَا إِلَّا حَابِسَتَنَا؟ قَالَتْ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ طَافَتْ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا مُرُوهَا فَلْتَنْفِرْ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned Safiyyah and it was said that she is menstruating. He said, "Perhaps she has held us back?" It was told to him, "O Messenger of Allah, she has already purified herself." He said, "Then it is not so."

إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَكَرَ صَفِيَّةَ فَقِيلَ إِنَّهَا حَائِضٌ فَقَالَ لَعَلَّهَا حَابِسَتُنَا؟ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْأَفَاضَتْ قَالَ فَلَا إِذًا

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm from his father from Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman that A'isha umm al- muminin said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ "Messenger of Allah, Safiyya bint Huyy has begun her period," and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perhaps she will delay us. Has she done tawaf of the House with you?" They said, "Of course." He said, "So you are free to leave."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَىٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ قُلْنَ بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجْنَ

قالت ذكر رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ فقلنا قد حاضت فقال عقرى أو حلقى ما أراها إلا حابستنا فقلنا إنها قد طافت يوم النحر قال فلا إذا مروها فلتنفر

Safiya bint Huyay, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ got her menses, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of that. He said, "Would she delay us?" The people said, "She has already performed Tawaf-al-Ifada." He said, "Therefore she will not (delay us)." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1757)

حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟» قُلْتُ لَا إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ ثُمَّ حَاضَتْ قَالَ «فَلَا إِذًا»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned about Safiyyah, daughter of Huyayy. He was told that she had menstruated. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: She may probably detain us. They (the people) said: She has performed the obligatory circumambulation (Tawaf al-Ziyarah). He said: If so, there is no need (of staying any longer). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2003)

ذَكَرْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ حَاضَتْ فِي أَيَّامِ مِنًى فَقَالَ «أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟» قَالُوا إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَلَا إِذًا»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Is it not restraining us?' Aisha replied and mentioned that it had overflowed. He then said, 'So no then.'"

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهَا لَحَابِسَتُنَا؟» فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ قَالَ «فَلَا إِذًا»

Messenger of Allah, Safiyyah bint Huyayy has entered the state of menses, whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Perhaps she is going to detain us. أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ؟» قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ «فَاخْرُجْنَ»

حَاضَتْ صَفِيَّةُ بَعْدَمَا أَفَاضَتْ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَحَابِسَتُنَا هِيَ؟ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا قَدْ أَفَاضَتْ ثُمَّ حَاضَتْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ﷺ فَلْتَنْفِرْ إِذًا

[AI] "To the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , O Messenger of Allah, Safiyyah bint Huyay has started her menses." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perhaps she has held us back." In another narration by Abdullah, he said, "Perhaps she has detained us. Did she not perform Tawaf (circumambulation) around the Kaaba with you?" They replied, "Yes, she did." He said, "Then let her go out." In another narration by Abdullah, he said, "Then you should go out."

لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ قَدْ حَاضَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَعَلَّهَا تَحْبِسُنَا وَفِي رِوَايَةِ عَبْدِ اللهِ لَعَلَّهَا حَابِسَتُنَا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ طَافَتْ مَعَكُنَّ بِالْبَيْتِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ فَاخْرُجْنَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَاخْرُجِي
