[Machine] "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man came to him with an egg-sized piece of gold that he had acquired from some spoils of war. He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, take this as a charity from me, for by Allah, apart from this, I have no wealth left.' The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Then the man came to him from his other side and said the same thing, and again the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Finally, the man came to him from the front, and the Prophet ﷺ took it from him and threw it away, giving him a warning that if it had hit his face, it would have caused him pain or injury. Then he said, 'One of you comes to people with everything he owns, and then seeks charity from them. Charity only befits a person who is in need. Take back your wealth, for we have no need for it.'"

[Machine] While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a man came to him holding a golden egg, which he had acquired from some battles or mines. He approached the Prophet ﷺ from his right side and said, "O Messenger of Allah, take this as a charity from me. By Allah, I have no wealth other than this." The Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Then he came to him from his left side and said the same thing. Once again, the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. Finally, the man came to him from in front of him and said the same thing. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Give it here," and he forcibly threw it away. If it had struck him, it would have hurt him or caused him pain. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "One of you may intentionally bring his wealth and give it in charity, but then he sits waiting for people to praise him. Charity is only accepted from those who are self-sufficient. Take what belongs to you, for we have no need for it." So the man took his wealth and left. According to Hammad bin Salamah, Muhammad bin Ishaq stated in this hadith, "I acquired this from a mine."
