“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and before me were four thousand date pits, I was making Tasbih with them. He said: ‘You have made Tasbih with these? Should I not teach you that which is more than what you have made Tasbih with?’ So I said: ‘Indeed, teach me.’ So he said: ‘Say: glory is to Allah according to the number of His creation (Subḥān Allāhi ʿadada khalqihi).’”  

الترمذي:٣٥٥٤ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكُوفِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي كِنَانَةُ مَوْلَى صَفِيَّةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ صَفِيَّةَ تَقُولُ دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَبَيْنَ يَدَىَّ أَرْبَعَةُ آلاَفِ نَوَاةٍ أُسَبِّحُ بِهَا فَقُلْتُ لَقَدْ سَبَّحْتُ بِهَذِهِ فَقَالَ أَلاَ أُعَلِّمُكِ بِأَكْثَرَ مِمَّا سَبَّحْتِ بِهِ فَقُلْتُ بَلَى عَلِّمْنِي فَقَالَ قُولِي سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ صَفِيَّةَ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْكُوفِيِّ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

[Machine] The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم came to me and there were four thousand date pits in front of me. I was using them to make tasbeeh (to glorify Allah). He said, "O daughter of Huwayy! What is this?" I said, "I am making tasbeeh with them." He said, "I have been making tasbeeh since I ascended to your head more than this." I said, "Teach me, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Say, 'Subhanallah' (Glory be to Allah) the number of all the things He created."  

الحاكم:٢٠٠٨ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا شَاذُّ بْنُ فَيَّاضٍ ثنا هَاشِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ كِنَانَةَ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ قَالَتْ

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ نَوَاةٍ أُسَبِّحُ بِهِنَّ فَقَالَ «يَا بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ مَا هَذَا؟» قُلْتُ أُسَبِّحُ بِهِنَّ قَالَ «قَدْ سَبَّحْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ عَلَى رَأْسِكِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا» قُلْتُ عَلِّمْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ «قُولِي سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ»  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ بِإِسْنَادٍ أَصَحَّ مِنْ هَذَا»

[Machine] Ali, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and in front of me were four thousand dates which I was using to praise Allah. He asked, "O daughter of Huwayy, what is this?" I replied, "I am praising Allah with them." He said, "I have praised Allah more than this since the moment I sat on your head." I said, "Teach me, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Say 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah) the number of everything that He has created."  

الطبراني:٢٠٦٦١ – حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا شَاذُّ بْنُ الْفَيَّاضِ ثنا هَاشِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ كِنَانَةَ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ قَالَتْ

دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيَّ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ نَوَاةٍ أُسَبِّحُ بِهِنَّ فَقَالَ «يَا ابْنَةَ حُيَيٍّ مَا هَذَا؟» فَقُلْتُ أُسَبِّحُ بِهِنَّ فَقَالَ «قَدْ سَبَّحْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ بِأَكْثَرِ مِنْ هَذَا» قُلْتُ فَعَلِّمْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «قُولِي سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ»

[Machine] "Narrated Safiyyah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me while I was preoccupied with reciting Tasbih (glorification of Allah) and there were four thousand date kernels in front of me, which I used to count my Tasbih with. He said: 'You have recited the Tasbih after raising your head more than this amount.' I said, 'Teach me, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'Say: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) the number of all that He has created.'"

"عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ قَالَتْ: دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيَّ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ نَوَاةٍ أُسَبِّحُ بِهِنَّ، فَقَالَ: قَدْ سَبَّحْتُ بَعْدَ أَنْ قُمْتُ عَلَى رَأْسِكِ بِأَكْثَر مِنْ هَذَا. قُلْتُ: فَعَلِّمْنِي يَا رسُولَ اللهِ! قَالَ: قُولِي: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ".
