“A man sent some Dirham through me to the House.” He said: “I entered the House and Shaibah was sitting on a chair. I handed it (the money) to him and he said: ‘Is this yours?’ I said: ‘No, if it were mine I would not have given it to you.’ He said: ‘Since you say that, ‘Umar was sitting in the place where you are sitting now and said: “I will not go out until I distribute the wealth of the poor Muslims.” I said: “You will not do that.” He said: “I will certainly do that.” He said: “Why is that?” I said: “Because, the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr saw where it was, and they had more need of the money than you do. But, they did not move it. Then, he stood up just as he was and went out.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3116)   

الطبراني:٧١٩٥حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ وَاصِلٍ الْأَحْدَبِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ

بَعَثَ مَعِي رَجُلٌ بِدَرَاهِمَ هَدِيَّةً إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَدَخَلْتُ الْبَيْتَ وَشَيْبَةُ جَالِسٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ إِيَّاهَا فَقَالَ لَكَ هَذِهِ؟ فَقُلْتُ لَا وَلَوْ كَانَتْ لِي لَمْ آتِكَ بِهَا قَالَ أَمَا إِنْ قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ جَلَسَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مَجْلِسَكَ الَّذِي أَنْتَ فِيهِ فَقَالَ إِنْ أَخْرُجْ حَتَّى أُقَسِّمَ مَا فِي الْكَعْبَةِ بَيْنَ فُقَرَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قُلْتُ مَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ قَالَ لَأَفْعَلَنَّ وَلِمَ ذَاكَ؟ قُلْتُ «لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ رَأَى مَكَانَهُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ فَهُمَا أَحْوَجُ مِنْكَ إِلَى هَذَا الْمَالِ فَلَمْ يُحَرِّكَاهُ فَقَامَ كَمَا هُوَ فَخَرَجَ»
