[Machine] Umayyah said to Saad, "Wait until midday when people are distracted, then go and perform tawaf around the Kaaba safely." While Saad was performing tawaf, Abu Jahl approached him and asked, "Who is this person performing tawaf around the Kaaba safely?" Saad replied, "I am Saad." Abu Jahl said, "You perform tawaf around the house safely, even though you have given refuge to Muhammad and his companions?" They argued until Umayyah said to Saad, "Don't raise your voice against Abu Al-Hakam (referring to Abu Jahl), for he is the leader of the valley people." Saad replied, "By Allah, if you prevent me from performing tawaf around the house, I will cut off your trade route to Sham." Umayyah then said to Saad, "Don't raise your voice against Abu Al-Hakam, I will restrain him." This angered Saad, and he said, "Leave us alone, for I heard Muhammad claiming that he will fight you." Abu Jahl asked, "Is he referring to me?" Saad replied, "Yes." Abu Jahl said, "By Allah, Muhammad does not lie." When they left, Saad returned to his wife and informed her about what his brother from Yathrib (referring to the Prophet Muhammad) had said. Umayyah's wife said, "Muhammad never leaves us alone." When the battle of Badr approached and they went out to meet the enemy, Umayyah's wife said to him, "Don't you remember what your brother from Yathrib told you?" Umayyah intended not to go but Abu Jahl said to him, "You are from the noble elite of the valley people, so come with us for one day or two." Umayyah obeyed and Allah killed him.

Saʿd bin Muʿadh came to Mecca with the intention of performing ʿUmra, and stayed at the house of Umaiya bin Khalaf Abi Safwan, for Umaiya himself used to stay at Saʿd's house when he passed by Medina on his way to Sham. Umaiya said to Saʿd, "Will you wait till midday when the people are (at their homes), then you may go and perform the Tawaf round the Kaʿba?" So, while Saʿd was going around the Kaʿba, Abu Jahl came and asked, "Who is that who is performing Tawaf?" Saʿd replied, "I am Saʿd." Abu Jahl said, "Are you circumambulating the Kaʿba safely although you have given refuge to Muhammad and his companions?" Saʿd said, "Yes," and they started quarreling. Umaiya said to Saʿd, "Don't shout at Abi-l-Hakam (i.e. Abu Jahl), for he is chief of the valley (of Mecca)." Saʿd then said (to Abu Jahl). 'By Allah, if you prevent me from performing the Tawaf of the Kaʿba, I will spoil your trade with Sham." Umaiya kept on saying to Saʿd, "Don't raise your voice." and kept on taking hold of him. Saʿd became furious and said, (to Umaiya), "Be away from me, for I have heard Muhammad saying that he will kill you." Umaiiya said, "Will he kill me?" Saʿd said, "Yes,." Umaiya said, "By Allah! When Muhammad says a thing, he never tells a lie." Umaiya went to his wife and said to her, "Do you know what my brother from Yathrib (i.e. Medina) has said to me?" She said, "What has he said?" He said, "He claims that he has heard Muhammad claiming that he will kill me." She said, By Allah! Muhammad never tells a lie." So when the infidels started to proceed for Badr (Battle) and declared war (against the Muslims), his wife said to him, "Don't you remember what your brother from Yathrib told you?" Umaiya decided not to go but Abu Jahl said to him, "You are from the nobles of the valley (of Mecca), so you should accompany us for a day or two." He went with them and thus Allah got him killed.

[Machine] Umayyah, wait until the middle of the day when people are distracted and then you can go and circulate around the Kaaba. While Saad was performing the Tawaf, Abu Jahl approached him and asked who he was and why he was circling the Kaaba safely. Saad identified himself and Abu Jahl criticized him for circumambulating the Kaaba while they had given him the protection of Muhammad. Saad responded that if Abu Jahl prevented him from circling the Kaaba, he would cut off his trade route to Sham. Umayyah warned Saad not to raise his voice against Abu Al-Hakam, the leader of the valley, but Saad became angry and said that he had heard Muhammad claim to be his killer. Umayyah held him back, but Saad insisted that he was not lying. When they left, Saad went back to his wife and informed her of what the man from Madinah had said. When they reached Badr, his wife reminded him of what his brother from Madinah had said. Saad wanted to stay back, but Abu Jahl told him that as a nobleman of the valley, he should accompany them for a day or two. Saad went with them and was eventually killed by Allah.
