زِيَادُ بْنُ أَنْعُمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ
[Machine] Whenever our food was ready, we would send it to Abu Ayoub and to the people on his ship. Abu Ayoub came and said, "You invited me while I am fasting, so it is my duty to respond to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A Muslim has six obligations towards his fellow Muslim: when he calls him, he should respond; when he meets him, he should greet him; when he sneezes, he should say to him, "Yarhamuk Allah" (may Allah have mercy on you); when he falls ill, he should visit him; when he dies, he should follow his funeral; and when he seeks his advice, he should give him sincere advice.'" My father said, "Among us there was a man who liked to joke. We had a man who used to support us financially, so the joker would say to the one who was eating behind him, 'May Allah reward you with good and righteousness.' When he heard this a few times, he got angry and abused him. The joker said to Abu Ayoub, 'O Abu Ayoub, what do you think of a man who gets angry and abuses me when I say to him, "May Allah reward you with good and righteousness?" Abu Ayoub replied, 'We used to say that if good does not reform him, then evil will. So I changed it for him. When the man came, the joker said to him, 'May Allah reward you with evil and hardship.' The man laughed and was pleased and said, 'You do not leave your jokes in any situation.' The joker said, 'May Allah reward Abu Ayoub with good and righteousness.' He said this to me."
