tabarani:3645bʿAbdān b. Aḥmad > ʿUmar b. Ismāʿīl b. Mujālid from my father > Bayān b. Bishr And Ibn Abū Khālid > Qays > Dakhalnā > Khabbāb Naʿūduh And Qad Āktawá

[Machine] We entered upon a blacksmith whom we used to visit, and he was suffering from a burn. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us from invoking death. If it were not for that, I would have invoked it while he was treating his wall (with fire)."  

الطبراني:٣٦٤٥bحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُجَالِدٍ ثنا أَبِي عَنْ بَيَانِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ وَابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ نَعُودُهُ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى فَقَالَ «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ وَلَوْلَا ذَلِكَ لَدَعَوْتُ وَهُوَ يُعَالِجُ حَائِطًا لَهُ»

[Machine] We entered upon a bricklayer while he was constructing a wall. The Muslim said, "One is rewarded for everything except making it out of this mud." He had been affected by abdominal pain for seven days and said, "If it were not for the Prophet of Allah ﷺ forbidding us from praying for death, I would have prayed for it."  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٩حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ نَعُودُهُ وَهُوَ يَبْنِي حَائِطًا لَهُ فَقَالَ الْمُسْلِمُ يُؤْجَرُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إْلَّا مَا يَجْعَلُ فِي هَذَا التُّرَابِوَقَدْ اكْتَوَى سَبْعًا فِي بَطْنِهِ وَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ لَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ

I visited Khabbab who had seven cauteries on his stomach and he said: Had Messenger of Allah ﷺ not forbidden us to call for death, I would have done so. (Using translation from Muslim 2681a)  

الطبراني:٣٦٣٦حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى سَبْعَ كَيَّاتٍ فِي بَطْنِهِ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَهَانَا أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ لَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ»
