[Machine] "When a woman used to be brought to the Prophet ﷺ, she would be given water to perform ablution, which she would pour on herself and between her sides. She would say, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to cool ourselves with water, for it is from the heat of Hellfire.'"  

الطبراني:٢٠٧٩٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ قَدْ حُمَّتْ دَعَتْ بِالْمَاءِ فَسَكَبَتْهُ عَلَيْهِ وَبَيْنَ جَنْبَيْهَا وَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُبَرِّدَ بِالْمَاءِ وَقَالَ «إِنَّهَا مِنْ فَحِيحِ جَهَنَّمَ»

Whenever a lady suffering from fever was brought to Asma' bint Abu Bakr, she used to invoke Allah for her and then sprinkle some water on her body, at the chest and say, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to order us to abate fever with water."  

البخاري:٥٧٢٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ

أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ قَدْ حُمَّتْ تَدْعُو لَهَا أَخَذَتِ الْمَاءَ فَصَبَّتْهُ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ جَيْبِهَا قَالَتْ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَبْرُدَهَا بِالْمَاءِ  

muslim:2211a – Abū Bakr b. Abū Shaybah > ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān > Hishām > Fāṭimah > Asmāʾ

Cool (the fever) with water. for it is because of the vehemence of the beat of Hell.  

مسلم:٢٢١١a – وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُؤْتَى بِالْمَرْأَةِ الْمَوْعُوكَةِ فَتَدْعُو بِالْمَاءِ فَتَصُبُّهُ فِي جَيْبِهَا وَتَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ ابْرُدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَقَالَ إِنَّهَا مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Cool it down with water,” and he said: “It is from the heat of Hell-fire.”  

ابن ماجة:٣٤٧٤ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُؤْتَى بِالْمَرْأَةِ الْمَوْعُوكَةِ فَتَدْعُو بِالْمَاءِ فَتَصُبُّهُ فِي جَيْبِهَا وَتَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ ابْرُدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَقَالَ إِنَّهَا مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ  

malik:50-15 – Mālik > Hishām b. ʿUrwah > Fāṭimah Bint al-Mundhir

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from Fatima bint al-Mundhir that whenever a woman who had a fever, was brought to Asma bint Abi Bakr, she made dua for her and took water and poured it inside her collar. She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to cool it with water."  

مالك:٥٠-١٥ – حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ

أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ وَقَدْ حُمَّتْ تَدْعُو لَهَا أَخَذَتِ الْمَاءَ فَصَبَّتْهُ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ جَيْبِهَا وَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نُبْرِدَهَا بِالْمَاءِ

[Machine] "When a woman used to come to her (Aisha) to seek her supplication, she poured water between her and her garment, and said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to cool it with water, as it is from the heat of Hellfire.'"  

أحمد:٢٦٩٢٦ – حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتُ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ لِتَدْعُوَ لَهَا صَبَّتِ الْمَاءَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ جَيْبِهَا وَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُبْرِدَهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَقَالَ إِنَّهَا مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ
