[Machine] No, by Allah, he was not a hypocrite, and indeed he was a righteous and upright person. He said to her, "Be quiet, for you are an old woman who has become senile." She said, "I have not become senile since I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'A liar and instigator will come out of Ta'if.'" As for the liar, we have seen him, meaning Al-Mukhtar, and as for the instigator, you are the one, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah has added. Al-Hajjaj said in his narration, "Mu'biro Al-Munafiqin," meaning the one who instigates the hypocrites.
لَا وَاللهِ مَا كَانَ مُنَافِقًا وَلَقَدْ كَانَ صَوَّامًا قِوَامًا قَالَ اسْكُتِي فَإِنَّكِ عَجُوزٌ قَدْ خَرِفْتِ قَالَتْ مَا خَرِفْتُ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَخْرُجُ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ كَذَّابٌ وَمُبِيرٌ» فَأَمَّا الْكَذَّابُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْنَاهُ تَعْنِي الْمُخْتَارَ وَأَمَّا الْمُبِيرُ فَأَنْتَ زَادَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ فَقَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ مُبِيرُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ
