[Machine] "I walked with Fulan to the Prophet ﷺ, and I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you gave from the Banu Muttalib and left us, even though we are the same as them in status.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'The Banu Hashim and the Banu Muttalib are one thing.'"
مَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَفُلَانُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ وَتَرَكْتَنَا وَإِنَّمَا نَحْنُ وَهُمْ إِلَيْكَ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «بَنُو هَاشِمٍ وَبَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ شَيْءٌ وَاحِدٌ»
ʿUthman bin ʿAffan went (to the Prophet) and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! You gave property to Bani Al-Muttalib and did not give us, although we and they are of the same degree of relationship to you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Only Bani Hashim and Bani Al Muttalib are one thing (as regards family status).
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ وَتَرَكْتَنَا وَإِنَّمَا نَحْنُ وَهُمْ مِنْكَ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا بَنُو هَاشِمٍ وَبَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ شَىْءٌ وَاحِدٌ
ʿUthman bin ʿAffan and I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "You had given Banu Al-Muttalib from the Khumus of Khaibar's booty and left us in spite of the fact that we and Banu Al-Muttalib are similarly related to you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib only are one and the same." So the Prophet ﷺ did not give anything to Banu ʿAbd Shams and Banu Nawfal.
أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ مَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ مِنْ خُمْسِ خَيْبَرَ وَتَرَكْتَنَا وَنَحْنُ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْكَ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا بَنُو هَاشِمٍ وَبَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ شَىْءٌ وَاحِدٌ قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ وَلَمْ يَقْسِمِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِبَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ وَبَنِي نَوْفَلٍ شَيْئًا
[Machine] I walked with Fulan to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, have you favored the sons of Muttalib and neglected us, while we and they are of the same status in relation to you?" He ﷺ said, "The sons of Hashim and the sons of Muttalib are one thing, Ibrahim ibn Isma'il and Muttarif ibn Mazen were weak individuals. And in a narration from the majority of scholars, from Al-Zuhri, from Ibn Al-Musayyib, from Jubair, it is sufficient."
مَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَفُلَانٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ وَتَرَكْتَنَا وَإِنَّمَا نَحْنُ وَهُمْ إِلَيْكَ بِمَنْزِلٍ وَاحِدٍ؟ فَقَالَ ﷺ إِنَّمَا بَنُو هَاشِمٍ وَبَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ شَيْءٌ وَاحِدٌ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَمُطَرِّفُ بْنُ مَازِنٍ ضَعِيفَانِ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الْجَمَاعَةِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ جُبَيْرٍ كِفَايَةٌ
