[Machine] We were at the threshold of a woman's house, refreshing ourselves and going out, when he (the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) had the best fragrance among us. It wouldn't increase beyond what he spread (of fragrance). So we asked him, "What is this scent?" He (the Prophet) said, "I was given some perfume during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I complained about it to him. He commanded me to wear my garment, meaning to cover my private parts, then he saliva-ed in his hand and wiped it on my back and stomach."
