[Machine] Abdul Rahman ibn Awf donated a quarter of his wealth to the covenant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , which amounted to four thousand [dinars], then he donated forty thousand [dinars], then he donated forty thousand [dinars] again. After that, he contributed five hundred horses in the way of Allah, and then he contributed one thousand and five hundred riding camels in the way of Allah. His wealth in general was from trade.  

«تَصَدَّقَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ بِشَطْرِ مَالِهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خَمْسِمِائَةِ فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى أَلْفٍ وَخَمْسِمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ مَالِهِ مِنَ التِّجَارَةِ»  

"عَنْ الزُّهْرِىِّ قَالَ: تَصَدَّقَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمن بْنُ عَوْفٍ عَلَى عَهْد رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِشَطْرِ مَالِهِ، أَرْبَعَةِ آلَاف، ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا، ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خَمْسِمائَةِ فَرَسٍ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خمْسِمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ فِى سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ مَالِهِ مِن التِّجَارَةِ".
