"إِنَّ فيكَ صدقةً كثيرةً، إِنَّ في فَضل بيانِكَ عن الأَرْتَم تُعَبِّرُ عنه حاجته صدقةً، وفى فَضْلِ سَمْعِكَ على السَّيِّئِ السَّمع تعبِّر عنه حَاجَتَهُ صدقةٌ، وفى فضل بَصَرِكَ عَلَى الضريرِ البَصَرِ تَهْدِيهِ الطريقَ صدقةٌ، وفى مُبَاضَعَتِكَ أَهْلَكَ صَدَقةٌ قيلَ: يا رسولَ اللَّه، أَيأْتى أَحدُنَا شهوَتَهُ ويُؤجرُ؟ قال: أَرأَيتَ لو جَعَلتَهُ في غير حِلِّهِ، أَكَان عليكَ وِزرٌ؟ قال: نعم. قال: أَفَتَحْتَسِبُونَ بالشَّرِّ وَلَا تَحتسبون بالخير".
[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the rich have gone with the reward of praying, fasting, and performing Hajj." He said, "And you, do you not pray, fast, and perform Hajj?" I said, "They give charity and we do not give charity." He said, "In you is charity; your raising your bone from the path is charity, your guidance to the path is charity, your support of the weak by your strength is charity, your explanation of the unknown is charity, and your fulfilling the needs of your wife is charity." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, if we indulge in our desires, will we be rewarded?" He said, "Do you see if you were to place it in the forbidden, would you be sinful?" I said, "Yes." He said, "So, you would be held accountable for evil but not held accountable for good."
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبَ الْأَغْنِيَاءُ بِالْأَجْرِ يُصَلُّونَ وَيَصُومُونَ وَيَحُجُّونَ قَالَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُصَلُّونَ وَتَصُومُونَ وَتَحُجُّونَ قُلْتُ يَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَلَا نَتَصَدَّقُ قَالَ وَأَنْتَ فِيكَ صَدَقَةٌ رَفْعُكَ الْعَظْمَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ صَدَقَةٌ وَهِدَايَتُكَ الطَّرِيقَ صَدَقَةٌ وَعَوْنُكَ الضَّعِيفَ بِفَضْلِ قُوَّتِكَ صَدَقَةٌ وَبَيَانُكَ عَنِ الْأَرْثَمِ صَدَقَةٌ وَمُبَاضَعَتُكَ امْرَأَتَكَ صَدَقَةٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَأْتِي شَهْوَتَنَا وَنُؤْجَرُ؟ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ جَعَلْتَهُ فِي حَرَامٍ أَكُنْتَ تَأْثَمُ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَتَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالشَّرِّ وَلَا تَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالْخَيْرِ
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ was told that the wealthy have taken away all the rewards. He ﷺ said, "Verily, there are many acts of charity for you. So, mention the blessings of your hearing and sight." He ﷺ said, "And in your sexual intimacy, there is charity for you." Abu Dhar asked, "Does one of us get rewarded for fulfilling his sexual desire?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Do you not see that if he thrusts it into a forbidden place, there would be sin on him? Similarly, if he thrusts it into a permissible place, he would be rewarded." Abu Dhar said, "Do you calculate evil deeds but not good ones?"
قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الْأَمْوَالِ بِالْأَجْرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ فِيكَ صَدَقَةً كَثِيرَةً فَذَكَرَ فَضْلَ سَمْعِكَ وَفَضْلَ بَصَرِكَ قَالَ وَفِي مُبَاضَعَتِكَ أَهْلَكَ صَدَقَةٌ فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ أَيُؤْجَرُ أَحَدُنَا فِي شَهْوَتِهِ؟ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ وَضَعْتَهُ فِي غَيْرِ حِلٍّ أَكَانَ عَلَيْكَ وِزْرٌ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَتَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالشَّرِّ وَلَا تَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالْخَيْرِ
[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have taken all the rewards." He said, "Are you not the ones who pray, fast, strive, and give charity?" I said, "Yes, but they do the same; they pray, fast, strive, and give charity, but we don't give charity." He said, "Surely, in you there are many acts of charity. Surely, your explanation to someone in need is an act of charity, and your listening to someone with bad hearing is an act of charity, and your guiding a blind person on the road is an act of charity, and your assisting the weak with your strength is an act of charity, and your removing harm from the road is an act of charity, and your gentle treatment of your family is an act of charity." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, can one of us fulfill his desire and still be rewarded?" He said, "Do you not consider that if you fulfill it in an unlawful manner, would there be a burden on you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "So why do you reckon the bad but not the good?" And this was narrated to us from different sources other than Abu Dharr.
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبَ الْأَغْنِيَاءُ بِالْأَجْرِ فَقَالَ أَلَسْتُمْ تُصَلُّونَ وَتَصُومُونَ وَتُجَاهِدُونَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ بَلَى وَهُمْ يَفْعَلُونَ كَمَا نَفْعَلُ يُصَلُّونَ وَيَصُومُونَ وَيُجَاهِدُونَ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَلَا نَتَصَدَّقُ قَالَ إِنَّ فِيكَ صَدَقَةً كَثِيرَةً إِنَّ فِي فَضْلِ بَيَانِكَ عَنِ الْأَرْتَمِ تُعَبِّرُ عَنْهُ حَاجَتَهُ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي فَضْلِ سَمْعِكَ عَلَى السَّيِّئِ السَّمْعِ تُعَبِّرُ عَنْهُ حَاجَتَهُ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي فَضْلِ بَصَرِكَ عَلَى ضَرِيرِ الْبَصَرِ تَهْدِيهِ الطَّرِيقَ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي قُوَّتِكَ عَلَى الضَّعِيفِ تُعِينُهُ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي إِمَاطَتِكَ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي مُبَاضَعَتِكَ أَهْلَكَ صَدَقَةٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَأْتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ وَيُؤْجَرُ؟ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ جَعَلْتَهُ فِي غَيْرِ حِلِّهِ أَكَانَ عَلَيْكَ وِزْرٌ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَتَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالشَّرِّ وَلَا تَحْتَسِبُونَ بِالْخَيْرِ؟ وَرُوِّينَا هَذَا مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ أُخَرَ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ؓ
