A believer does not receive (the trouble) of running a thorn or more than that but Allah elevates him in rank or effaces his sins because of that.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ شَوْكَةٍ فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلاَّ رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً أَوْ حَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً

A believer does not undergo (the trouble) of running a thorn or more than that when Allah effaces his sins.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ شَوْكَةٌ فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلاَّ قَصَّ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ خَطِيئَتِهِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ شَوْكَةٌ فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللهُ ﷻ بِهَا دَرَجَةً وحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There is no believing person who is pricked with a thorn or anything higher than it, except that a rank is written for him and a sin is expiated for him due to it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يُشَاكُ شَوْكَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةٌ وَكُفِّرَ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was afflicted with an ailment, so he started to complain and toss on his bed. Aisha asked him, "If one of us were to do this, would you find fault with them?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Indeed, the righteous are tested greatly, and a believer does not suffer any calamity greater than a thorn except that his sins are expiated by it and he is elevated by degrees."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ طَرَقَهُ وَجَعٌ فَجَعَلَ يَشْتَكِي وَيَتَقَلَّبُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ لَوْ صَنَعَ هَذَا بَعْضُنَا لَوَجِدْتَ عَلَيْهِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ الصَّالِحِينَ يُشَدَّدُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَإِنَّهُ لَايُصِيبُ مُؤْمِنًا نَكْبَةٌ مِنْ شَوْكَةٍ فَمَا فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حُطَّتْ بِهِ عَنْهُ خَطِيئَةٌ وَرُفِعَ بِهَا دَرَجَةً

[AI] It was reported that the Prophet ﷺ was feeling pain, so he began to complain and move around on his bed. Aisha said to him, "If someone else suffered what you are suffering, I would have found him complaining." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Indeed, Allah raises the rank of the believers through difficulties. No calamity or pain befalls a believer except that Allah ﷻ elevates his status through it and erases his sins. It is like what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said..."

So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, if one of us did this, we would fear that it would have consequences for him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, a believer is tried and indeed, no affliction or illness befalls him except that Allah expiates his sins and raises him in rank.'"

«طَرَقَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَجَعٌ فَجَعَلَ يَتَقَلَّبُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ صَنَعَ هَذَا بَعْضُنَا لَخُشِيَ أَنْ تَجِدَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيُشَدَّدُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَيْسَ مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يُصِيبُهُ نَكْبَةٌ أَوْ وَجَعٌ إِلَّا حَطَّ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَطِيئَةً وَرَفَعَ لَهُ دَرَجَةً»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There is no Muslim who is pricked by a thorn or anything higher than it, but Allah will raise him in status and forgive him his sins because of it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُشَاكُ شَوْكَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلَّا رُفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً وَحَطَّ بِهَا عَنْهُ خَطِيئَةً»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ fell ill and he began to complain and toss on his bed. Aisha said to him, "If one of us did this, you would have found fault with him." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Indeed, righteous people are tested, and a believer is not afflicted with a calamity greater than a thorn, except that it will be a means of removing his sins and raising his rank."

"مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلمٍ يُصَابُ بِشَيْءٍ في جَسَدِه فَيَتَصَدَّقُ بِه، إِلا رَفَعَهُ الله بِه دَرَجة، وَحَط عَنْهُ بِه خَطيئَةً".

"مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْجُدُ للهِ سجْدَةً إِلا رَفَعَهُ الله بِها درجةً، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بهَا خَطِيئَةً".

"مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يُصيبُه صُدَاعٌ في رَأسِه، أَوْ شَوْكَةٌ تُؤْذِيه فَما سِوى ذَلِك، إِلا رفعَه (الله) بها دَرَجَةً يومَ القيَامَة، وَكَفَّر عَنْه بها خَطيئَةً".

"مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُشَاكُ شَوْكةً فَما فَوقَها إِلا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ بِها دَرَجَةٌ، وَمُحيت عَنْه بها خَطيئَةٌ".

"مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصابُ في شَيْءٍ مِنْ جسَدِهِ فَيَهَبُهُ إِلا رَفَعَهُ الله بِهِ دَرَجَةً وَحطَّ عَنْهُ بِهِ خطِيئَةً".

"مَنْ رَكَعَ رَكعَةً أَوْ سَجَدَ سَجدَةً رَفَعهُ اللهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً".

"مَنْ سَجَدَ لله سَجْدَةً رَفَعَهُ الله بِهَا دَرَجَةً وحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطيَئةً".

"لا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمنَ شَوْكَةٌ فَمَا فَوْقَهَا إِلا رَفَعَهُ اللهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً".

"عن عَائشَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ طَرَقَه وَجَعٌ فَجَعَلَ يَشْتكِي وَيتَقَلَّب عَلَى فِراشِهِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: لَوْ فَعَل هَذَا بَعْضنَا وَجدت عَلَيه، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ المُؤْمِنينَ لَيُشَدَّد عَلَيْهِم وَإنَّه لَيْسَ مِنْ مُؤْمِن تُصِيبُهُ نَكْبَةِ مِنْ شَوْكَة وَلَا وَجَع إِلا كَفَّر الله تَعَالَى عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئة وَرَفَعَ لَهُ بِها دَرَجَة".
