TABARANI 10464:
from ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd —
[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a rider approached until he stood in front of the Prophet ﷺ . He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have come to you from a journey of nine journeys that wearied my body and kept me awake at night, and made me thirsty during the day. I ask you about two characteristics that kept me awake." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "What is your name?" He replied, "I am Zaid Al-Khayl." The Prophet ﷺ said, "No, rather you are Zaid Al-Khair." He said, "I ask you about Allah's sign in the one who wants, and His sign in the one who does not want. I love goodness and its people, and whoever acts upon it, and if I do it, I am certain of its reward. But if I miss anything from it, I become grief-stricken." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah's sign in the one who wants is that He prepares him for it, then He does not care which path you take."
