"عَنْ نَبِيهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ أَنَّهُ رَمِدَتْ عَيْنُهُ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَكْحلَهَا فَنَهَاهُ أبَانُ ابْنُ عُثْمَانَ وَأَمَرَهُ أنْ يَضْمِدَهَا بِالصَّبْرِ وَزَعَمَ أنَّ عُثْمَانَ حَدَّثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ رَأَى جِنَازَةً فَقَامَ لَهَا".

Nubaih b Wahb reported that the eyes of Umar b. Ubaidnllah b. Ma'mar were swollen, and he decided to use antimony. Aban b. 'Uthman forbade him to do so and commanded him to apply aloes on them, and reported on the authority of 'Uthman b. Affan that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had done that.

Nubaih bin Wahb narrated that the eye of ʿUmar bin Ubaidullah became inflamed when he was in ihram, and he wanted to apply kohl to it, but Aban bin ʿUthman ؓ forbade him to do that and told him to apply aloes to it. He said that ʿUthman ؓ narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he had done that.
