The Messenger of Allah said: "There is no vow for the son of Adam over what he has no control, and there is no emancipating he can do for one whom he does not own, and there is no divorce for him regarding that which he has no control over."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ نَذْرَ لاِبْنِ آدَمَ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ وَلاَ عِتْقَ لَهُ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ وَلاَ طَلاَقَ لَهُ فِيمَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَائِشَةَ

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "A man does not have the right to divorce in that which he does not possess, nor does he have the right to emancipate in that which he does not possess, nor does he have the right to sell in that which he does not possess."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ طَلَاقٌ فِيمَالَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا عَتَاقٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا بَيْعٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no vow for the son of Adam in what he does not possess, nor emancipation for the son of Adam in what he does not possess, nor divorce for him in what he does not possess, nor oath in what he does not possess."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا نَذْرَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا عِتْقَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا طَلَاقَ لَهُ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا يَمِينَ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no divorce in what you do not possess, there is no freedom in what you do not possess, there is no vow in what you do not possess, and there is no vow in disobedience to Allah."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا طَلَاقَ فِيمَا لَا تَمْلِكُونَ وَلَا عَتَاقَ فِيمَا لَا تَمْلِكُونَ وَلَا نَذْرَ فِيمَا لَا تَمْلِكُونَ وَلَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no divorce in what one does not possess, and there is no manumission in what one does not possess."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا طَلَاقَ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا عَتَاقَةَ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "There is no divorce for someone who does not possess, and there is no emancipation for someone who does not possess."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا طَلَاقَ لِمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ وَلَا عَتَاقَ لِمَنْ لَا يَمْلِكُ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'No man is bound by a transaction involving the sale of something that he does not possess.''' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4612)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيْسَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ بَيْعٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ»

"لَيسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ طَلاق فيمَا لا يَمْلكُ، وَلَا عَتَاقٌ فيمَا لَا يَمْلكُ، وَلَا بَيعٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ".
