Do not take the Qur'an on a journey with you, for I am afraid lost it should fall into the hands of the enemy. Ayyub (one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters) said: The enemy may seize it and may quarrel with you over it.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تُسَافِرُوا بِالْقُرْآنِ فَإِنِّي لاَ آمَنُ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ قَالَ أَيُّوبُ فَقَدْ نَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ وَخَاصَمُوكُمْ بِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not travel with the Quran, as I fear that the enemy may tamper with it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تُسَافِرُوا بِالْقُرْآنِ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not travel with the Quran, for I fear that the enemy may get hold of it."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تُسَافِرُوا بِالْقُرْآنِ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ
‘Abd Allaah bin ‘Umar said “The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ prohibited to travel with a copy of the Qur’an to the enemy territory. The narrator Malik said “(It is) I think lest the enemy should take it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2610)
«كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَنْهَى أَنْ يُسَافَرَ بِالْقُرْآنِ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ»
