"عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيجٍ قَالَ: قُلتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: الدِّيَةُ الْمَاشِيَةُ أَوْ الذَّهَبُ؟ قَالَ: كَانَتِ الإبِلُ حين كَانَ عُمَرُ بْن الْخَطَّابِ تَقَوَّمَ الإِبِلَ عشْرِينَ وَمِائَةً كُلَّ بَعِيرٍ، فَإِن شَاءَ الْقَرِوىُّ أَعْطَى مِائَةَ نَاقَةٍ وَلَمْ يُعْطِ ذَهَبًا، كَذَلِكَ الأَمْرُ الأَوَّلُ".

[Machine] The camels belonged to Umar ibn Al-Khattab until he took care of the camels at the age of twenty. He maintained a herd of twenty hundred camels. If a villager wanted, he would give him a hundred female camels, but he would not give them gold. That was the first order.
