I saw ʿUmar, offering the Fajr (morning) prayer at Jam'; then he got up and said, "The pagans did not use to depart (from Jam') till the sun had risen, and they used to say, 'Let the sun shine on Thabir (a mountain).' But the Prophet ﷺ contradicted them and departed from Jam' before sunrise."
The pagans used not to leave Jam' (i.e. Muzdalifa) till the sun had risen on Thabir mountain. The Prophet contradicted them by leaving (Muzdalifa) before the sun rose.
The Arabs in the pre-Islamic period did not return from al-Muzdalifah till they saw sunlight at the mountain Thabir. The Prophet ﷺ opposed them and returned before the sunrise.
"We were halted at Jama when Umar bin Al-Khattab said: 'The idolaters would not depart until the sun had risen and they would say: "Let the sun shine on Thabir" and indeed the Messenger of Allah contradicted them.' So Umar departed before the rising of the sun."
"I head him say 'I saw 'Umar in Al-Muzdalifah and he said: The people of the Jahiliyyah would not depart until the sun had risen, and they would say: Shine, O Thabir! The Messenger of Allah differed from them and departed before the sun had risen.
“We performed Hajj with ‘Umar bin Khattab, and when we wanted to depart from Muzdalifah, he said: ‘The idolators used to say: “May the sun rise over you, O Thabir!* So that we may begin our journey (to Mina),” and they did not depart until the sun had risen.’ So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed from them by departing before the sun rose.”
‘Umar led us in praying Fajr in Jam', then he stood up and said: The mushrikoon used not to depart until the sun rose, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed from them and moved on before the sun rose.
The mushrikeen used not to move on from Jam' (Muzdalifah) until the sun rose over (the mountain of) Thabeer, The Prophet ﷺ differed from them and moved on before the sun rose.
ʿUmar said [and ‘Abdur-Razzaq said: I heard ʿUmar]: The mushrikeen used not to depart from Jamʿ until the sun had risen on (the mountain of) Thabeer [Abdur Razzaq said:], and they used to say, Shine, Thabeer, so that we may leave quickly. So the Prophet ﷺ differed from them and departed before the sun rose.
l heard ʿUmar bin al Khattab say: The people of Jahiliyyah used not to move on from Jamʿ until they saw the sun shining on (the mountain of) Thabeer, and they would say: Shine Thabeer, then we will move on swiftly. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved on before the sun rose.
ʿUmar ؓ prayed Fajr when he was in Jamʿ. Abu Dawood said: We were with ʿUmar in Jamo, and he said: The mustrikoort used not to move on until the sun rose, and they would say: Shine, (Mount) Thabeer. The Prophet ﷺ of Allah differed from them and moved on before the sun rose.
The people of Jahiliyyah used not to move on from Jam’ until they said: Shine, Thabeer, so that we may move on quickly. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, he differed from them and he used to move on from Jam’ before sunrise, like the time when people who delay Fajr usually pray.
The Arabs in the pre-Islamic period did not return from al-Muzdalifah till they saw sunlight at the mountain Thabir. The Prophet ﷺ opposed them and returned before the sunrise. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1938)
"I head him say 'I saw 'Umar in Al-Muzdalifah and he said: The people of the Jahiliyyah would not depart until the sun had risen, and they would say: Shine, O Thabir! The Messenger of Allah differed from them and departed before the sun had risen. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3047)
[AI] Indeed, the polytheists used to not disperse until the sun rises and they would say, "Let the Thabir arise!" And indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ opposed them, so he would disperse before the rising of the sun.
