[Machine] The Christians used to fast during the month of Ramadan, so a king was appointed over them. He fell ill and said, "If God heals me, I will add ten more days of fasting." Then another king was appointed after him, and he ate meat and became sick. He said, "If God heals me, I will add eight more days of fasting." Then another king was appointed after him, and he said, "We will not abandon these days but will complete them and observe our fasting in the spring." So he did, and it became fifty days.  

كَانَ عَلَى النَّصَارَى صَوْمُ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَكَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَلِكٌ فَمَرِضَ فَقَالَ لَئِنْ شَفَاهُ اللهُ لَيَزِيدَنَّ عَشْرًا ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَلِكٌ بَعْدَهُ فَأَكَلَ اللَّحْمَ فَوَجِعَ فَقَالَ لَئِنْ شَفَاهُ اللهُ لَيَزِيدَنَّ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ كَانَ مَلِكٌ بَعْدَهُ فَقَالَ مَا نَدَعُ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَيَّامِ أَنْ نُتِمَّهَا وَنَجْعَلُ صَوْمَنَا فِي الرَّبِيعِ فَفَعَلَ فَصَارَتْ خَمْسِينَ يَوْمًا
