"عنْ عروة أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ أَلْقىَ كُلَّ دِرْهَمٍ لَهُ وَدِينَارٍ فِى بَيْتِ مَالِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَقَالَ: كُنْتُ أَتَّجِرُ فِيهِ وَأَلْتَمِسُ بِهِ؛ فَلَمَّا وَلِّيتُهُمْ شَغَلُونِى عَنِ التِّجَارَةِ وَالطَّلَبِ فِيهِ"

[Machine] That Abu Bakr, when he was entrusted, threw every dirham and dinar he had in the treasury of the Muslims and said, "I used to trade with it and seek provision with it, but when I was entrusted [with the caliphate], I became preoccupied with other matters and unable to engage in trade and seek provision with it."
