quran:19:81

And they have taken besides Allah ˹false˺ deities that they would be for them ˹a source of˺ honor.  

And they, namely, the disbelievers of Mecca, have taken besides God, graven images ˹as˺, ˹other˺ gods, for them to worship, that they may be for them a ˹source of˺ might, ˹that they may be˺ intercessors before God, so that they will not be chastised.
القرآن:١٩:٨١

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لِيَكُونُوا لَهُمْ عِزًّا  

{واتخذوا} أي كفار مكة {من دون الله} الأوثان {آلهة} يعبدونهم {ليكونوا لهم عزا} شفعاء عند الله بألا يعذبوا.

quran:36:74

But they have taken besides Allah ˹false˺ deities that perhaps they would be helped.  

And they have taken besides God, in other words, other than Him, ˹other˺ gods, idols, which they worship, that perhaps they might be helped, protected against God’s chastisement by their gods’ interceding for them, as they are wont to claim.
القرآن:٣٦:٧٤

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ  

{واتخذوا من دون الله} أي غيره {آلهة} أصناما يعبدونها {لعلهم يُنصرون} يمنعون من عذاب الله تعالى بشفاعة آلهتهم بزعمهم.
