109.1 The commandment not to compromise in the matters of religion.

١٠٩۔١ مقطع في سُورَةُ الكَافِرُون

quran:109:1 – In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Say, "O disbelievers,  

Say: ‘O disbelievers!
القرآن:١٠٩:١ – بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ  

{قل يا أيها الكافرون}.
quran:109:2 –

I do not worship what you worship.  

I do not worship, at present, what you worship, of idols,
القرآن:١٠٩:٢ –

لَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ  

{لا أعبد} في الحال {ما تعبدون} من الأصنام.
quran:109:3 –

Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.  

and you do not worship, at present, what I worship, and that is God, exalted be He, alone,
القرآن:١٠٩:٣ –

وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ  

{ولا أنتم عابدون} في الحال {ما أعبد} وهو الله تعالى وحده.
quran:109:4 –

Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.  

nor will I worship, in the future, what you have worshipped,
القرآن:١٠٩:٤ –

وَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَا عَبَدْتُمْ  

{ولا أنا عابد} في الاستقبال {ما عبدتم}.
quran:109:5 –

Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.  

nor will you worship, in the future, what I worship: God knew that they would never become believers (the use of ˹the inanimate˺ mā, ‘what’, to refer to God is meant to counter ˹the reference to ‘what thing’ they worship˺).
القرآن:١٠٩:٥ –

وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ  

{ولا أنتم عابدون} في الاستقبال {ما أعبد} علم الله منهم أنهم لا يؤمنون، وإطلاق ما على الله على وجه المقابلة.
quran:109:6 –

For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."  

You have your religion, idolatry, and I have a religion’, Islam: this was ˹revealed˺ before he was commanded to wage war ˹against the idolaters˺ (all seven Qur’ānic readers omit the yā’ of the genitive possessive construction ˹in wa-liya dīni˺ whether with a pause or without; Ya‘qūb, however, retains it in both cases). This was revealed at Minā during the Farewell Pilgrimage, hence it is considered Medinese: it was the last sūra to be revealed; it consists of 3 verses.
القرآن:١٠٩:٦ –

لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ  

{لكم دينكم} الشرك {ولي دين} الإسلام وهذا قبل أن يؤمر بالحرب وحذف ياء الإضافة القراء السبعة وقفا ووصلا وأثبتها يعقوب في الحالين.
