[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me wanting my wealth." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Remind him of Allah." The man asked, "What if he doesn't listen?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Seek the help of those around you who are Muslims." The man asked, "What if there is no one around me?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Seek the help of the ruler." The man asked, "What if the ruler sells me out?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fight him without giving up your wealth, until you become a martyr or prevent him from taking it."  

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الرَّجُلُ يَأْتِينِي يُرِيدُ مَالِي قَالَ «ذَكِّرْهُ اللهَ» قَالَ فَلَمْ يَذَّكَّرْ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ حَوْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ» قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَوْلِي أَحَدٌ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ بِالسُّلْطَانِ» قَالَ فَإِنْ بَاعَنِي السُّلْطَانُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَاتِلْ دُونَ مَالِكَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ فِي شُهَدَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ أَوْ تَمْنَعَ ذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said, "What do you think about a man who seizes my property in an unjust manner?" He said, "Remind him of Allah." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if he does not listen?" He said, "Seek help from someone other than you among the Muslims." He said, "What if there is no one around me?" He said, "Seek help from the authority." He said, "What if the authority refuses to help me?" He said, "Fight against him until you become a martyr in the Hereafter or prevent him from taking your property."  

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يَلْقَانِي بِأَرْضِ فَلَاةٍ يُرِيدُ مَالِي؟ قَالَ «ذَكِّرْهُ بِاللهِ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَذَّكَّرْ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ» قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَوْلِي أَحَدٌ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ بِالسُّلْطَانِ» قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَبَى السُّلْطَانُ عَنِّي؟ قَالَ «فَقَاتِلْ دُونَ مَالِكَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ مِنْ شُهَدَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ أَوْ تَمْنَعَ مَالَكَ»  

"I heard Sufyan Ath-Thawri narrating this Hadith. He said: 'A man came to the Prophet [SAW] and said: "What if a man comes to me and wants to take my wealth?" He said: "Remind him of Allah." He said: "What if he pays no heed?" He said: "Seek the help of the Muslims around you against him." He said: "What if there are no Muslims around me?" He said: "Seek the help of the ruler against him." He said: "What if the ruler is far away from me?" He said: "Fight to defend your wealth until you either become one of the martyrs of the Hereafter, or you protect your wealth (successfully)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4081)  

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَأْتِينِي يُرِيدُ مَالِي قَالَ «ذَكِّرْهُ بِاللهِ» قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَذَّكَّرْ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ حَوْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ» قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَوْلِي أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ؟ قَالَ «فَاسْتَعِنْ عَلَيْهِ السُّلْطَانَ» قَالَ فَإِنْ نَأَى السُّلْطَانُ عَنِّي؟ قَالَ «قَاتِلْ دُونَ مَالِكَ حَتَّى تَكُونَ مِنْ شُهَدَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ أَوْ تَمْنَعَ مَالَكَ»
