nasai:3216Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Khalanjī > Abū Saʿīd a freed slave of Banī Hāshim > Ḥuṣayn b. Nāfiʿ al-Māzinī > al-Ḥasan > Saʿd b. Hishām

It was narrated from Sa'd bin Hisham that he came to the Mother of the Believers, 'Aishah. He said: "I want to ask you about celibacy, what do you think about it?" She said: "Do not do that; have you not heard that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, says: 'And indeed We sent Messengers before you, and made for them wives and offspring'? So do not be celibate."  

النسائي:٣٢١٦أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَلَنْجِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْمَازِنِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكِ عَنِ التَّبَتُّلِ فَمَا تَرَيْنَ فِيهِ قَالَتْ فَلاَ تَفْعَلْ أَمَا

سَمِعْتَ اللَّهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ { وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلاً مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً } فَلاَ تَتَبَتَّلْ

And We have already sent messengers before you and assigned to them wives and descendants. And it was not for a messenger to come with a sign except by permission of Allah. For every term is a decree.  

And when they derided him for having many wives, the following was revealed: And indeed We sent messengers before you, and We assigned to them wives and seed, children — and you are like them; and it was not for any Messenger, from among them, that he should bring a sign, save by God’s leave, because they are servants enthralled ˹by Him˺. For every term, period, there is a Book, wherein is inscribed its delimitation.
القرآن:١٣:٣٨

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً ۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ بِآيَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۗ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍ كِتَابٌ  

ونزل لما عيروه بكثرة النساء: {ولقد أرسلنا رسلا من قبلك وجعلنا لهم أزواجا وذرية} أولادا وأنت مثلهم {وما كان لرسول} منهم {أن يأتي بآية إلا بإذن الله} لأنهم عبيد مربوبون {لكل أجل} مدة {كتاب} مكتوب فيه تحديده.

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade celibacy. Zaid bin Akhzam added: “And Qatadah recited: 'And indeed We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad ﷺ), and made for them wives and offspring.'”
