We were walking slowly. AbuBakrah then joined us and he raised his flog at us and said: You have seen us when we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We were walking quickly.

لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَرْمُلُ رَمَلاً

"My father told me: I witnessed the funeral of 'Abdur-Rahamn bin Samurah. Ziyad came out, walking in front of the bier, and some men from the family of 'Abdur-Rahman and their freed slaves came out, facing the bier and walking backward, saying: 'Slow down, slow down, may Allah bless you.' And they were walking slowly. Then when they were partway to Al-Mrbad, Abu Bakrah joined us on his mule. When he saw what they were doing, he rushed to them on his mule, brandishing his whip, and said: 'Move on, for by the One Who honored the face of Abu Al-Qasim, I remember when we were with the Messenger of Allah, we were walking fast, so the people speeded up."'

وَقَالَ خَلُّوا فَوَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَ وَجْهَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّا لَنَكَادُ نَرْمُلُ بِهَا رَمْلاً فَانْبَسَطَ الْقَوْمُ

[AI] I have seen us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we were about to bury her. Waki' said, "We were burying the funeral with sand."

لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّا لَنَكَادُ أَنْ نَرْمُلَ بِهَا قَالَ وَكِيعٌ أَنْ نَرْمُلَ بِالْجِنَازَةِ رَمَلًا

[AI] I have seen us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and indeed, we used to throw sand on the funeral.

لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّا لَنَرْمُلُ بِالْجِنَازَةِ رَمَلًا

[AI] "I saw us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we were almost throwing sand on the funeral."

«لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّا لَنَكَادُ أَنْ نَرْمُلَ بِالْجِنَازَةِ رَمَلًا»

[AI] And he said, "Indeed, I saw us, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , sifting sand." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.

وَقَالَ «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَرْمُلُ رَمَلًا» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
