[Machine] I have read to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , seventy-odd chapters, and the companions of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , knew that I knew them from the Book of Allah. And if I knew that anyone knew them more than me, I would have traveled to him. A companion said, 'So, I sat in the gatherings of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and I did not hear anyone criticizing or refuting what I recited.'

Once ʿAbdullah bin Masʿud delivered a sermon before us and said, "By Allah, I learnt over seventy Suras direct from Messenger of Allah ﷺ . By Allah, the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came to know that I am one of those who know Allah's Book best of all of them, yet I am not the best of them." Shaqiq added: I sat in his religious gathering and I did not hear anybody opposing him (in his speech).

He who conceals anything he shall have to bring that which he had concealed on the Day of judgment, and then said: After whose mode of recitation you command me to recite? I in fact recited before AIlah's Messenger ﷺ more than seventy chapters of the Qur'an and the Companions of Messenger of Allah ﷺ know it that I have better understanding of the Book of Allah (than they do), and if I were to know that someone had better understanding than I, I would have gone to him. Shaqiq said: I sat in the company of the Companions of Mubkmmad ﷺ but I did not hear anyone having rejected that (that is, his recitation) or finding fault with it.
