Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The food for two persons is sufficient for three, and the food of three persons is sufficient for four persons." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5392)  

الكبرى للنسائي:٦٧٤٢ – أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «طَعَامُ الِاثْنَيْنِ كَافِي الثَّلَاثَةِ وَطَعَامُ الثَّلَاثَةِ كَافِي الْأَرْبَعَةِ»

Food for one suffices two and food for two suffices for four.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ طَعَامُ الْوَاحِدِ يَكْفِي الاِثْنَيْنِ وَطَعَامُ الاِثْنَيْنِ يَكْفِي الأَرْبَعَةَ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The food of two is sufficient for three, and the food of three is sufficient for four." He said: There are narrations on this topic from Jabir, and Ibn 'Umar.  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
الترمذي:١٨٢٠ – حَدَّثَنَا الأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ طَعَامُ الاِثْنَيْنِ كَافِي الثَّلاَثَةِ وَطَعَامُ الثَّلاَثَةِ كَافِي الأَرْبَعَةِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The food of two is enough for three, and the food of three is enough for four."
