I heard Ibn ʿAbbas saying, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked an Ansari woman (Ibn ʿAbbas named her but ʿAta' forgot her name), 'What prevented you from performing Hajj with us?' She replied, 'We have a camel and the father of so-and-so and his son (i.e. her husband and her son) rode it and left one camel for us to use for irrigation.' He said (to her), 'Perform ʿUmra when Ramadan comes, for ʿUmra in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward),' or said something similar."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاِمْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ سَمَّاهَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَنَسِيتُ اسْمَهَا مَا مَنَعَكِ أَنْ تَحُجِّي مَعَنَا قَالَتْ كَانَ لَنَا نَاضِحٌ فَرَكِبَهُ أَبُو فُلاَنٍ وَابْنُهُ لِزَوْجِهَا وَابْنِهَا وَتَرَكَ نَاضِحًا نَنْضَحُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَإِذَا كَانَ رَمَضَانُ اعْتَمِرِي فِيهِ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِي رَمَضَانَ حَجَّةٌ أَوْ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَالَ  

I heard Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) narrating to us that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a woman of the Ansar (Ibn Abbas had mentioned her name but I have forgotten it): 'What has prevented you that you do not perform Hajj along with us? She said: We have only two camels for carrying water. One of the camels has been taken by my husband and my son for performing Hajj and one has been left for us for carrying water, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: So when the month of Ramadan come, perform Umra, for'Umra in this (month) is equal to Hajj (in reward).  

يُحَدِّثُنَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاِمْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ سَمَّاهَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَنَسِيتُ اسْمَهَا مَا مَنَعَكِ أَنْ تَحُجِّي مَعَنَا قَالَتْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَنَا إِلاَّ نَاضِحَانِ فَحَجَّ أَبُو وَلَدِهَا وَابْنُهَا عَلَى نَاضِحٍ وَتَرَكَ لَنَا نَاضِحًا نَنْضِحُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَإِذَا جَاءَ رَمَضَانُ فَاعْتَمِرِي فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to a woman from the Ansar whose name was given as Ibn Abbas, "I forgot your name. What prevented you from performing Hajj with us this year?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, we had two sacrificial animals and Abu Fulan, her husband, and their son rode on one, and her son and her son-in-law rode on the other. She was left without a vehicle to ride on, so the Prophet ﷺ said, "When Ramadan comes, perform 'Umrah in it, for 'Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ سَمَّاهَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَنَسِيتُ اسْمَهَا مَا مَنَعَكِ أَنْ تَحُجِّي مَعَنَا الْعَامَ؟ قَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّمَا كَانَ لَنَا نَاضِحَانِ فَرَكِبَ أَبُو فُلانٍ وَابْنُهُ لِزَوْجِهَا وَابْنِهَا نَاضِحًا وَتَرَكَ نَاضِحًا نَنْضَحُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِذَا كَانَ رَمَضَانُ فَاعْتَمِرِي فِيهِ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِيهِ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً
