قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ} [الأنفال: 19]

nasai-kubra:11137 – ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd from my uncle from my father > Ṣāliḥ > Ibn Shihāb > ʿAbdullāh b. Thaʿlabah b. Ṣuʿayr

[Machine] When the people met, O God, who among us was most cutting to their kin and came to that which we do not know, so open tomorrow, and that was his opening, so God revealed, "If you ask for victory, surely the victory has come to you." [Al-Anfal 19]  

الكبرى للنسائي:١١١٣٧ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ صُعَيْرٍ قَالَ كَانَ §الْمُسْتَفْتِحَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أَبُو جَهْلٍ وَإِنَّهُ قَالَ

حِينَ الْتَقَى الْقَوْمُ اللهُمَّ أَيُّنَا كَانَ أَقْطَعَ لِلرَّحِمِ وَآتَى لِمَا لَا نَعْرِفُ فَافْتَحِ الْغَدَ وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ اسْتِفْتَاحَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ} [الأنفال 19]

[Machine] When the people met, they said: "O Allah, who among us should cut off the ties of kinship and give us what we do not know of its blessings?!" So that became the prelude. Then Allah revealed (in the Quran): "If you (believers) make preparations for a victory, it is only fitting that you first make a firm decision in your own minds, and then ask Allah to bless your efforts. If you do this, Allah will grant you victory" (Quran 8:19), up to His saying: "And that Allah is with the believers." (Quran 8:19)  

الحاكم:٣٢٦٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي صُعَيْرٍ الْعُذْرِيُّ قَالَ كَانَ الْمُسْتَفْتِحَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ

حِينَ الْتَقَى الْقَوْمُ اللَّهُمَّ أَيُّنَا كَانَ أَقْطَعَ لِلرَّحِمِ وَآتَانَا بِمَا لَا نَعْرِفُ فَاحْنِهِ الْغَدَاةَ فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ اسْتِفْتَاحَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ} [الأنفال 19] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ} [الأنفال 19]  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم
