Fatima came to the Prophet ﷺ asking for a servant. He said, "May I inform you of something better than that? When you go to bed, recite "Subhan Allah' thirty three times, 'Al hamduli l-lah' thirty three times, and 'Allahu Akbar' thirty four times. ʿAli added, 'I have never failed to recite it ever since." Somebody asked, "Even on the night of the battle of Siffin?" He said, "Even on the night of the battle of Siffin."

أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ عَلَيْهَا السَّلاَمُ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَسْأَلُهُ خَادِمًا فَقَالَ أَلاَ أُخْبِرُكِ مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْهُ تُسَبِّحِينَ اللَّهَ عِنْدَ مَنَامِكِ ثَلاَثًا وَثَلاَثِينَ وَتَحْمَدِينَ اللَّهَ ثَلاَثًا وَثَلاَثِينَ وَتُكَبِّرِينَ اللَّهَ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلاَثِينَ ثُمَّ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ أَرْبَعٌ وَثَلاَثُونَ فَمَا تَرَكْتُهَا بَعْدُ قِيلَ وَلاَ لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ قَالَ وَلاَ لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us one night and put his foot between me and Fatimah, and he taught us what to say when we went to bed. Thirty-three tasbeehah, thirty-three tahmeedah and thirty-four takbeerah. ʿAli ؓ said: I never omitted it after that. A man said to him: Not even on the night of Siffeen? said: Not even on the night of Siffeen. (Using translation from Aḥmad 1229)

أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى وَضَعَ قَدَمَهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ فَاطِمَةَ فَعَلَّمَنَا مَا نَقُولُ إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مَضَاجِعَنَا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَسْبِيحَةً وَثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَحْمِيدَةً وَأَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً قَالَ عَلِيٌّ «فَمَا تَرَكْتُهَا بَعْدُ» فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ؟ قَالَ «وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ»

“Shall I not tell you of something that is better for you than that? Say Subhanallah thirty-three times, Allahu Akbar thirty-three times and Alhamdulillah thirty-three times; one of them thirty-four times.ʿ

أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَسْتَخْدِمُهُ فَقَالَ أَلا أَدُلُّكِ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ تُسَبِّحِينَ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ وَتُكَبِّرِينَ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ وَتَحْمَدِينَ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ أَحَدُهَا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلاثِينَ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he commanded Fatimah and Ali, when they lay down in bed, to engage in Tasbeeh (saying SubhanAllah), Tahmeed (saying Alhamdulillah), and Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) until they reach thirty-four hundred times. Ali asked, "Even on the night of Siffin?" Ali replied, "Yes, even on the night of Siffin."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ أَمَرَ فَاطِمَةَ وَعَلِيًّا إِذَا أَخَذَا مَضَاجِعَهُمَا فِي التَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّحْمِيدِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ لَا يَدْرِي عَطَاءٌ أَيُّهَا أَرْبَعٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَمَامُ الْمِائَةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَمَاتَرَكْتُهُنَّ بَعْدُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ الْكَوَّاءِ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ؟ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and placed his leg between me and Fatimah. He taught us what to say when we go to our bed. He said, "O Fatimah, when both of you are in your place, then say 'SubhanAllah' (Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) thirty-three times, and 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) thirty-four times." Ali said, "By Allah, I have never left it since." Then, a man who had something on his mind or was doubtful said, "And not even on the night of Siffin?" Ali replied, "Not even on the night of Siffin." It is Sahih (authentic) according to the conditions of the two Sheikhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not include it in their collections.

أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَوَضَعَ رِجْلَهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ فَاطِمَةَ فَعَلَّمَنَا مَا نَقُولُ إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مَضَاجِعَنَا فَقَالَ «يَا فَاطِمَةُ إِذَا كُنْتُمَا بِمَنْزِلَتِكُمَا فَسَبِّحَا اللَّهَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَاحْمَدَا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَكَبِّرَا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ» قَالَ عَلِيٌّ «وَاللَّهِ مَا تَرَكْتُهَا بَعْدُ» فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ «وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ» صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم

قَالَ أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى وَضَعَ قَدَمَهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ فَاطِمَةَ فَعَلَّمَنَا مَا نَقُولُ إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مَضَاجِعَنَا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَسْبِيحَةً وَثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ تَحْمِيدَةً فَمَا تَرَكْتُهَا بَعْدُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ ؟ فَقَالَ وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

"أَلا أدُلُّكِ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَك مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ إِذَا أوَيْتِ إِلى فِرَاشِكِ فَسبِّحِى وَكبِّرى وهَلِّلِى ثَلاثًا وَثَلَاثين، وَثَلاثًا وَثَلَاثينَ، وَأَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثينَ".

"أَلا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خيرٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ تُسَبِّحِينَ اللَّه إِذَا أَوَيْت إِلَى فِرَاشِكِ ثَلاثًا وَثَلَاثينَ، وتَحْمَدينَهُ ثَلاثًا وثَلَاثينَ، وتُكَبِّرينَهُ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثينَ، فَذَلِكَ مِائَةَ هِى خَيْرُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيها ".

"أَلا أدُلُّك عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْ خَادِمٍ؟ تُسبِّحِينَ ثَلاثًا وثَلَاثِينَ، وتَحْمَدِينَ ثَلاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ، وتُكبِّرينَ أرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ، حِينَ تَأخُذِينَ مَضْجَعَك".

" عن على قال: أتانا رسول الله ﷺ فوضع رجله بينى وبين فاطمة، فعلمنا ما نقول إذا أخذنا مضاجعنا، فقال: يا فاطمة! إذا كنتما بمنزلكما فسبحا الله ثلاثًا وثلاثين، واحمدا ثلاثًا وثلاثين، وكبرا أربعا وثلاثين، قال على: والله ما تركتهما بعد، فقال له رجل كان في نفسه عليه شئ: ولا ليلة صفين؟ قال: ولا ليلة صفين ".
