When we attended a dinner along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we did not lay our hands on the food until Messenger of Allah ﷺ had laid his hand and commenced eating (the food). Once we went with him to a dinner when a girl came rushingly as it someone had been pursuing her. She was about to lay her hand on the food, when Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught her hand. Then a desert Arab came there (rushingly) as if someone had been pursuing him. He (the Holy Prophet) caught his hand; and then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Satan considers that food lawful on which Allah's name is not mentioned. He had brought this girl so that the food might be made lawful for him and I caught her hand. And he had brought a desert Arab so that (the food) might be lawful for him. So I caught his hand. By Him, in Whose hand is my life, it was (Satan's) hand that was in my hand along with her hand.  

كُنَّا إِذَا حَضَرْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ طَعَامًا لَمْ نَضَعْ أَيْدِيَنَا حَتَّى يَبْدَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَيَضَعَ يَدَهُ وَإِنَّا حَضَرْنَا مَعَهُ مَرَّةً طَعَامًا فَجَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ كَأَنَّهَا تُدْفَعُ فَذَهَبَتْ لِتَضَعَ يَدَهَا فِي الطَّعَامِ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ كَأَنَّمَا يُدْفَعُ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَسْتَحِلُّ الطَّعَامَ أَنْ لاَ يُذْكَرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُ جَاءَ بِهَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةِ لِيَسْتَحِلَّ بِهَا فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهَا فَجَاءَ بِهَذَا الأَعْرَابِيِّ لِيَسْتَحِلَّ بِهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ يَدَهُ فِي يَدِي مَعَ يَدِهَا  

The devil considers the food when Allah’s name is not mentioned over it, and he brought his nomad Arab that it might be lawful by means of him, so I seized his hand: then he brought this girl that it might be lawful by means of her, so I seized her hand. By Him in Whose hand my soul is, His hand is in my hand along with their hands.  

كُنَّا إِذَا حَضَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ طَعَامًا لَمْ يَضَعْ أَحَدُنَا يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَبْدَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّا حَضَرْنَا مَعَهُ طَعَامًا فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ كَأَنَّمَا يُدْفَعُ فَذَهَبَ لِيَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِي الطَّعَامِ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ كَأَنَّمَا تُدْفَعُ فَذَهَبَتْ لِتَضَعَ يَدَهَا فِي الطَّعَامِ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهَا وَقَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَيَسْتَحِلُّ الطَّعَامَ الَّذِي لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُ جَاءَ بِهَذَا الأَعْرَابِيِّ يَسْتَحِلُّ بِهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ وَجَاءَ بِهَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةِ يَسْتَحِلُّ بِهَا فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهَا فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ يَدَهُ لَفِي يَدِي مَعَ أَيْدِيهِمَا  

[Machine] When we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we were invited to a meal. We did not begin eating until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started eating. We were invited to another meal, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not begin eating. So we refrained from eating. Then, a Bedouin came rushing in as if he was being chased, and he reached out with his hand towards the dish. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of his hand and made him sit down. Then, a young girl came and reached out with her hand towards the dish. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of her hand. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, when Satan was prevented from causing us to forget the remembrance of Allah upon our food, he brought this Bedouin to make lawful our food with him. And when we prevented him, he brought this young girl to make lawful our food with her. By Allah, his hand is in my hand along with her hand." Then, he mentioned the name of Allah and ate.  

كُنَّا إِذَا كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدُعِينَا إِلَى طَعَامٍ لَمْ نَضَعْ أَيْدِيَنَا حَتَّى يَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ فَدُعِينَا إِلَى طَعَامٍ فَلَمْ يَضَعْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ فَكَفَفْنَا فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ كَأَنَّمَا يَطْرِدُ فَأَهْوَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْقَصْعَةِ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ فَأَجْلَسَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ فَأَهْوَتْ بِيَدِهَا إِلَى الْقَصْعَةِ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَمَّا أَعْيَاهُ أَنْ نَدَعَ ذِكْرَ اللهِ عَلَى طَعَامِنَا فَجَاءَ بِهَذَا الْأَعْرَابِيُّ لِيَسْتَحِلَّ بِهِ طَعَامَنَا فَلَمَّا حَبَسْنَاهُ جَاءَ بِهَذِهِ الْجَارِيَةِ لِيَسْتَحِلَّ بِهَا طَعَامَنَا فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ يَدَهُ فِي يَدِي مَعَ يَدِهَا» ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ اسْمَ اللهِ فَأَكَلَ  

"عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ: بَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ إِذْ أُتِىَ بِجَفْنَةٍ فَوُضِعَتْ، فَكَفَّ عَنْهَا رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَدَهُ، وَكَفَفْنَا أَيْدِيَنَا، وَكُنَّا لَا نَضَعُ أَيْدِيَنَا حَتَّى يَضَعَ يَدَهُ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِىٌّ كَأَنَّهُ يُطْرَدُ فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَى الجَفْنَةِ ليَأكُلَ مِنْهَا، فَأخَذَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ، فَجَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ وكَأَنَّهَا تُدْفَعُ فَذَهَبَتْ لِتَضَعَ يَدَهَا فِى الطَّعَامِ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ بِيَدِهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَسْتَحِلُّ طَعَامَ القَوْمِ إِذَا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ الله عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنَّا لَمَّا رآنَا كَفَفْنَا عَنْهَا فَإِنَّا لَنَسْتَحِلُّ بِهِ، فَوَالَّذِى لَا إلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ إِنَّ يَدَهُ فِى يَدِى مَعَ يَديهَا".
