I heard the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) saying: There came the people of Yemen, they are tender of feelings and meek of hearts. The belief is that of the Yemenites, the sagacity is that of the Yemenites, the tranquillity is among the owners of goats and sheep, and pride and conceitedness is among the uncivil owners of the camels, the people of the tents in the direction of sunrise.  

مسلم:٥٢h – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ جَاءَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً وَأَضْعَفُ قُلُوبًا الإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ السَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلاَءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ قِبَلَ مَطْلِعِ الشَّمْسِ

I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Pride and arrogance are characteristics of the rural bedouins while calmness is found among the owners of sheep. Belief is Yemenite, and wisdom is also Yemenite i.e. the Yemenites are well-known for their true belief and wisdom)."  

Abu ʿAbdullah (Al-Bukhari) said, "Yemen was called so because it is situated to the right of the Kaʿba, and Sham was called so because it is situated to the left of the Kaʿba."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Faith is in Yemen, and knowledge is in Yemen, and wisdom is in Yemen. The people of Yemen have the softest hearts and the most tender hearts. Disbelief lies to the east, and pride and arrogance lie within the horsemen and camel-herders. The people of piety and righteousness are the people of livestock. And tranquility is among the people of sheep."  

أحمد:٨٩٤٢ – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ أَتَاكُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ فَهُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً وَأَلْيَنُ قُلُوبًا وَالْكُفْرُ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي أَهْلِ الْخَيْلِ وَالْإِبِلِ وَالْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Pride and arrogance are found among blacksmiths from the righteous people, tranquility is found among shepherds, and faith is found among Yemenis, and wisdom is Yemeni."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ وَالْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ

The belief is among the Yemenites, and the unbelief is towards the East, and tranquillity is among those who rear goats and sheep, and pride and simulation is among the uncivil and rude owners of horses and camels. (Using translation from Muslim 52e)  

أحمد:١٠٢٨٣ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْكُفْرُ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالرِّيَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْخَيْلِ وَأَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ  

suyuti:213a –

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The people of Yemen have come to you and they are more gentle and soft-hearted. Belief is Yemenite and Wisdom is Yemenite, while pride and haughtiness are the qualities of the owners of camels (i.e. bedouins). Calmness and solemnity are the characters of the owners of sheep." (Using translation from Bukhārī 4388)   

السيوطي:٢١٣a –

"أتَاكمُ أهْل اليَمَن، هُمْ أرَقُّ أفْئِدَةً، وأَلِيَنُ قُلوبًا، الإِيمانُ يَمَانِ والحكمة يَمانيَّة، والفَخْر والخُيَلاء في أصحاب الابِل، والسَّكِينَة والوَقار في أهل الغَنَم".
