A dua seeking refuge from the loss of blessings and sudden punishment

muslim:2739 – ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbd al-Karīm Abū Zurʿah > Ibn Bukayr > Yaʿqūb b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān > Mūsā b. ʿUqbah > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

It was among the duas of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:

allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min zawāli niʿmatik, wa-taḥawwuli ʿāfiyatik, wa-fajʾati niqmatik, wa-jamīʿi sakhaṭik

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of Your blessing, the passing of Your well-being, the sudden onset of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure.)

مسلم:٢٧٣٩ – حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ:

كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ:

«اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ».

أبو داود:١٥٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْفٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ وَتَحْوِيلِ عَافِيَتِكَ وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ

adab:685 –

'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said, "One of the supplications of the Messenger of Allah was, 'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the disappearance of Your blessing and from the loss of good health and Your sudden vengeance and all of Your anger.'"

الأدب المفرد:٦٨٥ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ وَفُجَأَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ
