"Ibn Abbas sent a message to Ibn al-Zubayr at the beginning of his acceptance of allegiance [as leader] regarding that there was no call to prayer (Adhan) on the day of Eid al-Fitr, so he should not announce it. Consequently, Ibn al-Zubayr did not call for it. Along with this, he sent him the message that the sermon (Khutbah) should be after the prayer, as it used to be done. Ibn al-Zubayr led the prayer before the sermon. This was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih from Muhammad ibn Rafi' and also recorded by Bukhari from the narration of Hisham on the authority of Ibn Jurayj."
