[Machine] They said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have taken all the rewards. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they give charity out of their excess wealth." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Has Allah not made it possible for you to give charity? Every tasbih (saying SubhanAllah—glory be to Allah) is a charity, every tahmida (saying Alhamdulillah—praise be to Allah) is a charity, and every tahlila (saying La ilaha illa Allah—there is no god but Allah) is a charity. Even when one of you fulfills his desires (within the limits set by Islam), it is considered a charity." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, if one of us fulfills his desires, will he be rewarded?" He replied, "Do you not see that if he fulfills them unlawfully, he will be held accountable? Similarly, if he fulfills them lawfully, he will be rewarded." 'Affan said, "You should give in charity, say the talbiyah (saying Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk—Here I am, O Allah, Here I am), make takbir (saying Allahu Akbar—Allah is the Greatest), enjoin good, forbid evil. All of these are acts of charity."

قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالْأُجُورِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَوَلَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَصَّدَّقُونَ إِنَّ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَبِكُلِّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَفِي بُضْعِ أَحَدِكُمْ صَدَقَةً قَالَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَأْتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ يَكُونُ لَهُ فِيهَا أَجْرٌ؟ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَرَامِ أَكَانَ عَلَيْهِ فِيهَا وِزْرٌ؟ وَكَذَلِكَ إِذَا وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلَالِ كَانَ لَهُ فِيهَا أَجْرٌ قَالَ عَفَّانُ تَصَّدَّقُونَ وَقَالَ وَتَهْلِيلَةٍ وَتَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَأَمْرٍ بِمَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةً وَنَهْيٍ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ صَدَقَةً وَفِي بُضْعٍ

[Machine] It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have taken all the rewards by praying as we pray, fasting as we fast, and giving charity with their surplus wealth." He said, "Has Allah not allowed for you ways to give charity? Verily, with every tasbeehah (saying SubhanAllah) there is a charity, and with every takbeerah (saying Allahu Akbar) there is a charity, and with every tahmeedah (saying Alhamdulillah) there is a charity, and with every tahleelah (saying La ilaha illAllah) there is a charity, and commanding good is a charity, and forbidding evil is a charity, and in the intimate relations of one of you there is a charity." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, if one of us fulfills his desire, will he have some reward for that?" He said, "Do you not see that if he does it in a prohibited manner, he would be deserving of punishment? Likewise, if he does it in a permissible manner, he will have a reward."

قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالْأُجُورِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَوَلَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَصَّدَّقُونَ إِنَّ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَبِكُلِّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَبِكُلِّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَبِكُلِّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَأَمْرٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ صَدَقَةٌ وَنَهْيٌ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي بُضْعِ أَحَدِكُمْ صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ يَأْتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ وَيَكُونُ لَهُ فِيهَا أَجْرٌ؟ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَرَامِ أَلَيْسَ كَانَ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرٌ أَوِ الْوِزْرُ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ فَكَذَلِكَ إِذَا وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلَالِ يَكُونُ لَهُ الْأَجْرُ

[Machine] "Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Prophet ﷺ , 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have gone away with the rewards; they pray as we pray, fast as we fast, and give in charity from the excess of their wealth.' He ﷺ replied, 'Has not Allah made things for you to give in charity? Every tasbihah (saying, "Subhan Allah"), takbirah (saying, "Allahu Akbar"), and tahmidah (saying, "Alhamdulillah") is a charity. Every tahleelah (saying, "La ilaha illa Allah") is a charity. Encouraging good is a charity. Forbidding evil is a charity.'"

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالْأَجْرِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ قَالَ ﷺ «أَولَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِهِ كُلُّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَأَمْرٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَنَهْيٌ عَنِ مُنْكَرٍ صَدَقَةٌ»

some of the people from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Messenger of Allah, the rich have taken away (all the) reward. They observe prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give Sadaqa out of their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Has Allah not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do sadaqa? In every declaration of the glorification of Allah (i. e. saying Subhan Allah) there is a Sadaqa, and every Takbir (i. e. saying Allah-O-Akbar) is a sadaqa, and every praise of His (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a Sadaqa and every declaration that He is One (La illha ill-Allah) is a sadaqa, and enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a Sadaqa, and in man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife, ) there is a Sadaqa. They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward. Abu Dharr reported that it was said, "Messenger of Allah, the wealthy people have taken all the rewards. They pray as we pray. They fast as we fast, but they give sadaqa from their excess wealth." He said, "Has Allah not given you something to give as sadaqa? Every time you praise or glorify Allah, that is sadaqa. There is sadaqa is sexual intercourse." He was asked, "Is there sadaqa in satisfying one's appetite?" He replied, "If he does it in a haram manner, is that not a wrong action? Similarly if he does it in a halal manner, he receives a reward."

عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالأُجُورِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَصَدَّقُونَ؟ إِنَّ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ وَتَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَبُضْعُ أَحَدِكُمْ صَدَقَةٌ قِيلَ فِي شَهْوَتِهِ صَدَقَةٌ؟ قَالَ لَوْ وُضِعَ فِي الْحَرَامِ أَلَيْسَ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرٌ؟ ذَلِكَ إِنْ وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلاَلِ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرٌ
