The two unique lights given to the Prophet ﷺ: Surat al-Fatihah and the last two ayat of Surat al-Baqarah

muslim:806Ḥasan b. al-Rabīʿ and Aḥmad b. Jawwās al-Ḥanafī > Abū al-Aḥwaṣ > ʿAmmār b. Ruzayq > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿĪsā > Saʿīd b. Jubayr > Ibn ʿAbbās

While Jibril was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ, he heard a creaking sound from above him, so he raised his head and said, "This is a gate of heaven that has been opened today; it has never been opened before today." Then an angel descended from it, and he said, "This is an angel who has descended to the earth; he has never descended before today." He greeted him and said, "Rejoice in two lights that you have been given, which no prophet before you was given: the Opening of the Book and the closing verses of Surat al-Baqarah. You will never recite a single letter from them except that you will be given it."

I met Abu Masud at the ˹Sacred˺ House, and I said, “A hadith has reached me from you concerning the two verses in Surat al-Baqarah.” He said, “Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The two verses from the end of Surah al-Baqarah—whoever recites them in a night, they will suffice him."
