The two unique lights given to the Prophet ﷺ: Surat al-Fatihah and the last two ayat of Surat al-Baqarah
While Jibril was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ, he heard a creaking sound from above him, so he raised his head and said, "This is a gate of heaven that has been opened today; it has never been opened before today." Then an angel descended from it, and he said, "This is an angel who has descended to the earth; he has never descended before today." He greeted him and said, "Rejoice in two lights that you have been given, which no prophet before you was given: the Opening of the Book and the closing verses of Surat al-Baqarah. You will never recite a single letter from them except that you will be given it."
The sufficiency of the last two verses of Surat al-Baqarah
I met Abu Masud at the ˹Sacred˺ House, and I said, “A hadith has reached me from you concerning the two verses in Surat al-Baqarah.” He said, “Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The two verses from the end of Surah al-Baqarah—whoever recites them in a night, they will suffice him."”
This hadith has been narrated by Mansur with the same chain of transmitters.
If anyone recites the two verses at the end of Surah al-Baqara at night, they would suffice for him 'Abd al-Rahman said: I met Abu Mas'ud and he was circumambulating the House (of Allah) and asked him about this (tradition) and he narrated it to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
