malik:47-6 – Mālik > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Balaghanī

Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said said, "I have heard that by his good character a man can reach the degree of the one who stands in prayer at night and the one who is thirsty from fasting in the heat of the day."  

مالك:٤٧-٦ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَلَغَنِي

أَنَّ الْمَرْءَ لَيُدْرِكُ بِحُسْنِ خُلُقِهِ دَرَجَةَ الْقَائِمِ بِاللَّيْلِ الظَّامِي بِالْهَوَاجِرِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, a person can reach the rank of the one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day with their good character."  

الطبراني:٧٧٠٩ – وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُدْرِكُ بِحُسْنِ خُلُقِهِ دَرَجَةَ الْقَائِمِ بِاللَّيْلِ الظَّامِئِ بِالْهَوَاجِرِ»
