43. The Book of Virtues (2/2)
saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the ʿAsr prayer was due and the people searched for water to perform ablution but they could not find it. Later on (a pot full of) water for ablution was brought to Allah's Apostle . He put his hand in that pot and ordered the people to perform ablution from it. I saw the water springing out from underneath his fingers till all of them performed the ablution (it was one of the miracles of the Prophet).
We took part in the holy battle of Tabuk in the company of the Prophet ﷺ and when we arrived at the Wadi-al-Qura, there was a woman in her garden. The Prophet ﷺ asked his companions to estimate the amount of the fruits in the garden, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ estimated it at ten Awsuq (One Wasaq = 60 Sa's) and 1 Sa'= 3 kg. approximately). The Prophet ﷺ said to that lady, "Check what your garden will yield." When we reached Tabuk, the Prophet ﷺ said, "There will be a strong wind tonight and so no one should stand and whoever has a camel, should fasten it." So we fastened our camels. A strong wind blew at night and a man stood up and he was blown away to a mountain called Taiy, The King of Aila sent a white mule and a sheet for wearing to the Prophet ﷺ as a present, and wrote to the Prophet ﷺ that his people would stay in their place (and will pay Jizya taxation.) (1) When the Prophet ﷺ reached Wadi-al- Qura he asked that woman how much her garden had yielded. She said, "Ten Awsuq," and that was what Messenger of Allah ﷺ had estimated. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "I want to reach Medina quickly, and whoever among you wants to accompany me, should hurry up." The sub-narrator Ibn Bakkar said something which meant: When the Prophet ﷺ saw Medina he said, "This is Taba." And when he saw the mountain of Uhud, he said, "This mountain loves us and we love it. Shall I tell you of the best amongst the Ansar?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "The family of Bani-n-Najjar, and then the family of Bani Saʿida or Bani Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj. (The above-mentioned are the best) but there is goodness in all the families of Ansar."

43.6 His Compassion Towards His Ummah, And His Intense Concern To Warn Them Against That Which May Harm Them
43.7 He ﷺ Was The Seal Of The Prophets
43.9 The Cistern Of Our Prophet ﷺ And Its Attributes
The Prophet ﷺ said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, I will drive some people out from my (sacred) Fount on the Day of Resurrection as strange camels are expelled from a private trough."
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The width of my Lake-Fount is equal to the distance between Aila (a town in Sham) and Sana' (the capital of Yemen) and it has as many (numerous) jugs as the number of stars of the sky."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Some of my companions will come to me at my Lake Fount, and after I recognize them, they will then be taken away from me, whereupon I will say, 'My companions!' Then it will be said, 'You do not know what they innovated (new things) in the religion after you."
43.10 The Angels Fought Alongside Him ﷺ
I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the battle of Uhud accompanied by two men fighting on his behalf. They were dressed in white and were fighting as bravely as possible. I had never seen them before, nor did I see them later on.
43.11 His Courage
The 'Prophet was the best and the bravest amongst the people. Once the people of Medina got terrified at night, so they went in the direction of the noise (that terrified them). The Prophet ﷺ met them (on his way back) after he had found out the truth. He was riding an unsaddled horse belonging to Abu Talha and a sword was hanging by his neck, and he was saying, "Don't be afraid! Don't be afraid!" He further said, "I found it (i.e. the horse) very fast," or said, "This horse is very fast." (Qastala-ni)
43.12 His Generosity
The Prophet's ﷺ increased generosity and intensive study of the Quran with Jibrīl during the month of Ramaḍān
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he ˹especially˺ was most generous in ˹the month of˺ Ramaḍān when Jibrīl (Gabriel) met him. He used to meet him every night of Ramaḍān and teach him the Quran. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the absolutely most generous, even more than the wind sent forth ˹carrying bounties˺.
43.13 His Good Manners
I served the Prophet ﷺ for ten years, and he never said to me, "Uf" (a minor harsh word denoting impatience) and never blamed me by saying, "Why did you do so or why didn't you do so?"
Anas said, "When Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived at Medina, Abu Talha took hold of my hand and brought me to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Anas is an intelligent boy, so let him serve you." Anas added, "So I served the Prophet ﷺ L at home and on journeys; by Allah, he never said to me for anything which I did: Why have you done this like this or, for anything which I did not do: 'Why have you not done this like this?"
43.14 His Generosity
Never was the Prophet ﷺ asked for a thing to be given for which his answer was 'no'.
Once the Prophet ﷺ said (to me), "If the money of Bahrain comes, I will give you a certain amount of it." The Prophet ﷺ had breathed his last before the money of Bahrain arrived. When the money of Bahrain reached, Abu Bakr announced, "Whoever was promised by the Prophet ﷺ should come to us." I went to Abu Bakr and said, "The Prophet ﷺ promised me so and so." Abu Bakr gave me a handful of coins and when I counted them, they were five-hundred in number. Abu Bakr then said, "Take twice the amount you have taken (besides).
43.15 His Compassion Towards Children And His Humbleness, And The Virtue Of That
Even when heartbroken we never say that which displeases Allah
We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the blacksmith Abū Sayf, and he was the husband of the wet nurse of Ibrāhīm, peace be upon him, (the son of the Prophet). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took Ibrāhīm and kissed him and smelled him and later we entered Abū Sayf's house and at that time Ibrāhīm was taking his last breaths, and the eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started shedding tears.
ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAwf said, "O Allah's Apostle, even you are weeping!" He said, "O Ibn ʿAwf, this is mercy." Then he wept more and said, "The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrāhīm ! Indeed we are grieved by your separation."
A bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "You (people) kiss the boys! We don't kiss them." The Prophet said, "I cannot put mercy in your heart after Allah has taken it away from it."
Show mercy to receive Mercy
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissed al-Hasan b. ʿAli (his grandchild) while al-Aqra b. Habis al-Tamimi was sitting beside him. al-Aqra said, "I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them," Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a look at him and said, "Whoever is not merciful to others will not be shown Mercy ˹by Allah˺."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "He who is not merciful to others, will not be treated mercifully.
43.16 His Great Modesty
The Prophet ﷺ was shier than a veiled virgin girl.
The Prophet ﷺ never used bad language neither a "Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say "The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character." (See Hadith No. 56 (B) Vol. 8)
