ibnhibban:6593Aḥmad b. ʿAlī b. al-Muthanná > Abū Khaythamah > Ṣafwān b. ʿĪsá > Unays b. Abū Yaḥyá from his father > Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us during his illness in which he died, and his head was tied up. I followed him until he stood on the pulpit and said, "Indeed, I am standing by the Pool (of Paradise) soon." Then he said, "Verily, a servant was presented with the dunya (worldly life) and its adornments, and he chose the Hereafter." No one among the people understood it except for Abu Bakr, who said, "By my father and mother, I would sacrifice you for our wealth, ourselves, and our children." Then he descended from the pulpit, and he was not seen until the hour (of his death).

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us in his illness in which he died, while he had a bandage on his head. He said, "I followed him until he ascended the pulpit, and he said, 'I am the one who will stand at the Pool (of Al-Kawthar) on the Day of Resurrection.' He then said, 'A servant was offered the choice between the worldly life and what it contains, and the Hereafter, and he chose the Hereafter, and no one from the people noticed it except Abu Bakr. He said, 'By my father and mother, I will ransom you with my wealth and myself and my children.' He then descended from the pulpit and was not seen until the hour (of his death)."

darimi:78Zakariyyā b. ʿAdī > Ḥātim b. Ismāʿīl > Unays b. Abū Yaḥyá from his father > Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us during his illness in which he eventually passed away, while we were in the mosque. He was supporting his head with a cloth until he reached the pulpit and climbed it. He said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I am able to see the Pond (of Kawthar) from my position here." Then he said, "A servant was presented to me with the treasures and luxuries of this world, and he chose the Hereafter." No one paid attention to this statement except Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and tears started flowing from his eyes as he wept. He said, "We will ransom you with our fathers, mothers, ourselves, and our wealth, O Messenger of Allah." He then descended from the pulpit and did not climb on it again until his passing.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us during his illness in which he passed away, and he had a cloth tied around his head. He said, "I have been given the choice of meeting the Hour or staying by the Pond." Then he said, "Indeed, a servant was presented with the worldly life and its adornments, and he chose the Hereafter." No one among the people comprehended this except for Abu Bakr, so he said, "May my mother and father be sacrificed for you! We would ransom you with our own selves, children, wealth, and supporters." Then he descended from the pulpit and was not seen until the Hour.
