While I was in the company of the (elites) of Quraiah, Abu Dharr came there and he was saying: Give glad tidings to the hoarders of riches that their backs would be branded (so deeply) that (the hot Iron) would come out of their sides, and when the backs of their necks would be branded, it would come out of their foreheads. He (Abu Dharr) then went away and sat down. I asked who he was. They said: He is Abu Dharr. I went to him and said to him: What is this that I heard from you which you were saying before? He said: I said nothing but only that which I heard from their Prophet ﷺ. I again said: What do you say about this gift? He said: Take it, for today it is a help. But when it becomes a price for your religion, then abandon it. (Using translation from Muslim 992b)

[Machine] I was sitting with people from the Quraysh, when Abu Dharr came near them and said to me, "The treasure hoarders will be pleased with a certain kind of cloth that comes out of their backsides, and the poor will be pleased with a certain kind of cloth that comes out of their foreheads." Then he stepped aside and sat down. I asked, "Who is this?" Abu Dharr said, "I did not say anything to them except words that they have heard from their Prophet." I asked him, "What do you say about this gift?" He said, "Take it, for today it is a support. If it becomes the price for your religion, then leave it."

[Machine] "Give glad tidings to the hoarders of tears in their foreheads, tears in their backs, and tears in their southern regions. Then he stepped back to a banner and prayed behind it two units (rak'ahs). So I said: Who is this? It was said: This is Abu Dharr. So I said to him: What thing did I hear you calling for? He said: I did not say anything to them except something I heard from their Prophet ﷺ. So I said to him: May Allah have mercy on you, I used to take gifts from 'Umar, so what do you think? He said: Take it, for today it contains assistance, and it is about to become a debt. So if it becomes a debt, then refuse it."
