ibnhibban:230ʿAbdullāh b. Qaḥṭabah Bifam al-Ṣilḥ > Muḥammad b. al-Ṣabbāḥ > ʿAbīdah b. Ḥumayd > Bayān b. Bishr > ʿĀmir > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr

The Prophet ﷺ said, "A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. And a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden." (Using translation from Bukhārī 10)

ibnhibban:231Abū Yaʿlá > Abū Kurayb > Abū Usāmah > Burayd > Abū Burdah > Abū Mūsá

[Machine] The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, the believer is to the believer like a building, each part supporting and strengthening the other."

ibnhibban:233Ibn Qaḥṭabah > Muḥammad b. al-Ṣabbāḥ > ʿAbīdah b. Ḥumayd > al-Ḥasan b. ʿUbaydullāh al-Nakhaʿī > al-Shaʿbī > al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: "The example of a believer is like that of a body; when one part of it is in pain, the rest of the body feels it too."

ibnhibban:234al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > ʿUbaydullāh b. Muʿādh al-ʿAnbarī from my father > Shuʿbah > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

ibnhibban:235Aḥmad b. ʿAlī b. al-Muthanná > Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl b. Abū Samīnah > Ibn Abū ʿAdī > Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] From the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said, "A servant does not truly reach the reality of faith until he loves for others what he loves for himself from goodness."

ibnhibban:236Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Hāshimī > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar b. al-Rammāḥ > Abū Muʿāwiyah > al-Aʿmash > Abū Ṣāliḥ > Abū Hurayrah

By him in whose hand my soul is, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another: should I not guide you to something doing which you will love one another: spread out salutation among you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5193)

ibnhibban:237ʿImrān b. Mūsá b. Mujāshiʿ > Hudbah b. Khālid > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Thābit > Anas b. Mālik

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are three qualities that, whoever possesses them, will find the sweetness of faith: the one who loves Allah and His Messenger more than anything else, the one who loves people only for the sake of Allah, and the one who would prefer to be thrown into the fire rather than to revert to Judaism or Christianity."

ibnhibban:238al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > ʿAbd al-Wahhāb > Ayyūb > Abū Qilābah > Anas b. Mālik

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith: 1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else. 2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake. 3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire." (Using translation from Bukhārī 16)

4.5 [Machine] What is mentioned in the qualities of the believers?

ibnhibban:239ʿImrān b. Mūsá b. Mujāshiʿ > Shaybān b. Abū Shaybah > Abū ʿAwānah > ʿUmar b. Abū Salamah from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "There are three things that are obligatory upon every Muslim: visiting the sick, attending funerals, and responding to the sneeze of one who praises Allah."

ibnhibban:240Abū Yaʿlá > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar al-Qawārīrī > Yaḥyá al-Qaṭṭān > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Jaʿfar from my father > Ḥakīm b. Aflaḥ > Abū Masʿūd

“The Muslim has four things due from the Muslim: He should answer [by saying Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)] to him if he sneezes (and says Al-Hamdulillah); he should accept his invitation if he invites him; he should attend his funeral if he dies; and he should visit him if he falls sick.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1434)

ibnhibban:241ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad b. Salm > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Ibrāhīm > al-Walīd b. Muslim > al-Awzāʿī > al-Zuhrī > Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, "The rights of a Muslim over another Muslim are five: returning greetings, visiting the sick, attending funerals, accepting invitations, and saying 'bless you' when someone sneezes."

ibnhibban:242Abū Khalīfah > al-Qaʿnabī > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muḥammad > al-ʿAlāʾ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The rights of a Muslim upon another Muslim are six." They asked, "What are these rights?" He replied, "When you meet him, greet him with salaam (Islamic greeting), when he invites you, accept his invitation, when he seeks advice, advise him, when he sneezes and praises Allah, say 'Yarhamuk Allah' (may Allah have mercy on you), when he is ill, visit him, and when he dies, accompany his funeral procession."

ibnhibban:243al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > Abū ʿUmar al-Ḍarīr > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muslim al-Qasmalī > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > Ibn ʿUmar

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Who can tell me about a tree that is similar to a believer? Its roots are firm and its branches are in the sky, constantly bearing fruit with the permission of its Lord?" Abdullah said, "I intended to say that it is the date palm, but my father stopped me." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) then said, "It is the date palm." I mentioned this to my father and he said, "If you had said it, it would have been dearer to me than this and that," pointing to some red camels.

ibnhibban:244al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > ʿUthmān b. Abū Shaybah > Jarīr > al-Aʿmash > Mujāhid > Ibn ʿUmar

[Machine] We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when a camel was brought to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "There is a blessed tree among the trees, its blessing is similar to that of a Muslim." I thought that it might be the palm tree, then I looked at the people and found that I was the tenth among them and I was the newest among them, so I remained silent. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "It is the palm tree."

ibnhibban:245my father

Tell me about a tree which has resemblance with a believer. The people began to mention (different) trees of the forest. Ibn 'Umar said: It was instilled in my mind or in my heart and it stuck therein that it implied the date- palm tree. I made up my mind to make a mention of that but could not do that because of the presence of the elderly people there. When there was a hush amongst them (after they had expressed their views), Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It Is the date-palm tree. (Using translation from Muslim 2811b)

4.5 [Machine] What is mentioned in the qualities of the believers?

ibnhibban:246Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Sāmī > Yaḥyá b. Ayyūb al-Maqābirī > Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar > ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār > Ibn ʿUmar

There is a tree amongst trees, the leaves of which do not wither and that is like a Muslim; tell me which that (tree) can be? The people began to think of the trees of the forest. Abdullah said: I thought that it could be the date-palm tree, but I felt hesitant (to say that). They (the Companions) then said: Messenger of Allah, (kindly) tell us which that can be? Thereupon he said: It is the date-palm tree. I made a mention of that to 'Umar, whereupon he said: Had you said that it meant the date-palin tree, this statement of yours (would have been dearer to me) than such and such things.
