[Machine] Ali was sent by the Prophet ﷺ to Yemen. Three individuals claimed to be the father of a child and argued about it. Ali separated the two and asked them, "Are you both willing to compromise for the sake of this child?" They both answered no. He separated them again and asked the same question, and again they both answered no. He then said, "I see that you are contentious partners, while I am the arbitrator between you." He resolved the dispute by assigning the child to one of them and determining that the remaining two-thirds of the compensation should be given to the other two. Ali mentioned this incident to the Prophet ﷺ , who laughed until his canine teeth were visible. Sheikhain (two scholars) have omitted the name of Al-Ajlaha bin Abdullah Al-Kindi from their narrations, but it is not considered a weak hadith, for the one who criticized it was Al-Ajlaha himself.

[Machine] Ali was in Yemen when three people came to him, arguing about a child, each claiming to be his father. So Ali separated two of them and asked, "Do you both agree to leave this child for the other?" They said no. Then Ali separated another two and asked the same question, to which they also said no. Ali said, "I see that you are partners who quarrel, while I am the judge between you." So he arbitrated between them and gave the child to the one on whom the lot fell, and he fined him two-thirds of the blood money to be paid to the others.
