[Machine] After the death of his brother Uthman ibn Abi Sufyan, Muawiyah used Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani to govern Egypt. This happened in the forty-fourth year. Muawiyah then established the Hajj pilgrimage there.

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ اسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَى مِصْرَ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ أَخِيهِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ وَذَلِكَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ فَأَقَامَ الْحَجَّ فِيهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ
