When the fighting intensified and the two sides met in battle, we sought shelter with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and no one was closer to the enemy than him. (Using translation from Aḥmad 1347)   

الحاكم:٢٦٣٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

«كُنَّا إِذَا حَمِيَ الْبَأْسُ وَلَقِيَ الْقَوْمُ الْقَوْمَ اتَّقَيْنَا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلَا يَكُونُ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَدْنَى إِلَى الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُ»  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح
